Disappointed he's left but can certainly understand.

Angry to be fair that we've even entertained the idea let alone gone and sold him to Arsenal.

Given that we blocked the Vermaelen move to United and have now gone and gotten one of your fans' favourite players it certainly feels good to get one over on you for once - obviously not on the same level as taking van Persie and winning the Premier League but it's still satisfying.

He's going to get lots of chances in our first-team and honestly if he finish relatively well he'll score a shit load for us. Once Giroud is back we actually look to have some decent options up front, finally.

Thats what I don't understand, personally I was as happy as you can be that you gave us no chance with Vermaelen, but Van Gaal was said to be livid so why on earth would he sign off on this after that?

I can't put it into words without it sounding weird, but this clubs always done better than simply just spunking a load of cash on 'world class players' and hoping for the best. It's nice once in a while, but we've already done that this window and mercilessly shifting out Welbeck who has done little, if anything, wrong in his United career bar failing to displace RVP and Rooney just because Falcao happened to be available doesn't sit right with me at all.

I'd be fucking livid if I wasn't so upset by it.

What would you value him at, Ninja?

Given the fees this year (most importantly Ulloa, Lallana, and Long for this point) he's probably 'worth' £25m. For Arsenal, clearly desperate, it should have been £30+ if they wanted to do the deal.

Radamel Falcao said: “I am delighted to be joining Manchester United on loan this season. Manchester United is the biggest club in the world and is clearly determined to get back to the top. I am looking forward to working with Louis van Gaal and contributing to the team’s success at this very exciting period in the club’s history.”

Maybe I'm reading into this maybe a little bit to much but maybe as reported it's already a permanent done deal and this is just a way around FFP for Monaco?

This was my concern with bringing Van Gaal in tbh. He'll want to be successful, but he probably won't stick around for a lengthy period of time so he's going to bring in proven world class players rather than allow a player like Welbeck to prove himself. Short term we should be fine and back into the top 4 and competing for trophies, but long term we could suffer once he leaves.

Would you rather Welbeck and no Falcao, or Falcao and Welbeck at Arsenal?

He was probably told one or the other.

I'm torn over it really. Like having Falcao is fantastic, he's truly world class and I haven't been as excited to see an individual player since Ronaldo. Then again I'm disappointed a lad who came through our academy who had a lot of potential has had to make way and worse gone to Arsenal.

I'm really disappointed Welbeck had to leave. Definitely one of my favourite United players ever since he scored that screamer on his debut. He was no doubt one of our best ball-carriers during the last few seasons with such pace and physicality, but the goals never came to him. Sucks that it's Arsenal too.

Hull had a good day today. We'll have to see about Abel Hernandez but Ben Arfa, Diame and Gaston Ramirez should all do well.

Falcao is a good signing provided he can adapt to the physical needs. Coming back from a major knee injury in a new league that is quite unforgiving will be a challenge. As a shot term option, it isn't a bad move. However, long term, if Utd have indeed agreed to sign him after his loan, that's a heck of a lot of money for someone who will be 29 in Feb 2015. Even more if the club doesn't quality for the CL again.

Interesting to see where this leaves Mata now too.

As for Chelsea, excellent transfer window. Effectively sold those we could expense with for top dollar and then reinvest that money into the likes of Costa and Fabregas. On top of that, we've managed to palm off Torres and effectively use the money we're saving to bring in Remy, who's a proven EPL goal scorer. To do all this business and it effectively only costing us around £11-12m NET is exceptional.

"When a player of @Falcao's calibre becomes available it's an opportunity not to be missed."

What worries me most about the signing is that quote. No doubt a quality player, but I'm not particularly happy with the fact we've been hearing all season about building to a plan and having an unbalanced squad and then we go and buy a player like Falcao just because he happens to be available. Also seems to crush the idea he's been signed as a replacement to an injured RVP.

Complete vanity signing.

Also what absolute knobber put a two week international break 1 day after the transfer window finished?

But Lallana definitely is, because you signed him right?

Anyway, I didn't say he was worth £30m. I just said we shouldn't have sold him to Arsenal for less than that because we should be ripping them off.

Welbecks three years younger, has played at a higher level and probably shown an awful lot more talent than Lallana. In comparison to some of the other fees paid for English players £25m is bang in line.

The Sturridge fees the only exception, but I do think you're using the benefit of hindsight. In reality it was a bit of a punt. Spectacularly paid off, true, but a punt none the less.

Quite, but we haven't had a shiny deadline day toy to play with (Fellaini doesn't count) since Berbatov.

This international breaks always been a load of shit anyway, no one cares about it hence why they'll be about 67 people at Wembley in a few days time including the players.

Yeah exactly 12 million was a punt, yet you want 25?

16 million is about right for Welbeck

Sturridge was sold on the cheap because the club didn't want him any more and he wanted a move, which drives the price downwards.

Always amazed how people think Sturridge was a punt. Saw him play for Bolton and Chelsea and he looked exactly the same player as he is now. I was 100% confident that one would be a success.

But yeah, getting the impression Woodward and Man Utd are worried about status and vanity rather than thinking things through.

Yeah Hull really impressed me. Never been a fan of inconsistent players but if Ben Arfa is more hot than cold then it's a great deal. They'll seriously be pushing for EL this season.
