But the argument against Zlatan has always been he's an excellent player who's never shown it on the highest level, you'd have to be seriously deluded to think that the team England put out yesterday made that game anything close to the highest level. I don't think anyones ever thought he was a bad player outright.
And I really don't think anything other than his 4th was particularly special. Horrific defending for his first, a good chest and powerful volley which Hart should have done better with for his second and a freekick that shouldn't have gone in. They were decent, but hardly 'great'.

I dunno, I've heard so many people say he's shit over the last few years.
The other funny thing is if he'd scored that goal against another national team, most of the media/public here wouldn't have even seen it or be going on about it like they are.

Disappointed that Hooper didn't get a look-in, and I'm confused as to why Hodgson's only called up two goalkeepers rather than choosing Forster as well.
EDIT: Ah, Forster's injured. Forgot about that. Ruddy too.

Why is Lescott in the team hasn't he been on the bench recently, surely Jones should be ahead of him, he's been fantastic since coming back
JCash3000
Is he eligible to play for scotland after all?
zeonflux
Not by blood i don't think and considering the shit that one of the Scotland managers got a few years ago for thinking of bringing in a player who had no Scottish blood but had got citizenship, i doubt they would let him. I believe Nacho Novo was the player in question

Stupid.

How's it stupid?

Jones has only played two full Premier League games since his return from injury and Lescott has proved himself on the international stage more than Jones. Even if you don't personally agree with it, it's perfectly understandable.

In fairness Jones probably deserves a place over Smalling at least.

Johnson - Cahill - Jagielka - Baines
Carrick - Wilshere
Walcott - Rooney - Lennon
Sturridge
Walcott, Baines, Wilshere, Carrick and Sturridge all deserve a starting place due to their good form, and I think we need to utilise Rooney in that deeper role that he has occupied for United. I'd give Sturridge the nod as Defoe's not scored for a while.
Perhaps. He'll be back in the squad before long if he keeps starting for United.

Walker - Caulker - Smalling - Baines
Cleverly - Wilshere
Lennon - Rooney - Ox
Walcott
I'd replace Lennon with Walcott and put Sturridge in upfront if he wasn't injured.

That's the roughly the side I hope we play at the World Cup (should we make it). I think Caulker and Smalling have the potential to be better centre-halves than Cahill, Lescott and Jagielka, although it's debatable whether or not they'll reach that potential by then. Baines will hopefully be the first-choice left-back come 2014 as well. I'd love to see a midfielder pairing of Wilshere and Cleverley as well, although we might need a more defensive-minded player in there. It's a shame Rodwell hasn't reached the heights we all thought he would 2-3 years ago.
