Can't believe Israel are firing missiles at him, he's had real alcoholism issues. Heartless.

The fact is despite this military sophistication Israel possess, far more Palestinian innocent men women and children are killed in 1 day of retaliation than they are in 1 year of Hamas rocket attacks. I don't think anyone will argue Israel doesn't have the right to defend it's sovereign territory (KM aside probably) but the level of retaliation is seriously disproportionate.
Secondly, it's so pre-French Revolution to justify occupation on the grounds of the spoils of war. Palestine's has a right to statehood if they so wish, Israel being victorious in a war 60 years ago does nothing to change that.

Well, they lost it, now they need to win it back. We have every right to keep our land and our citizens safe. We do all that we can to keep the innocent away from places that we bomb yet too many of them decide to stay there.
Why is it okay for the British and American countries to go into Iraq and Afghanistan, places that aren't even close to them? Britain and America can do that, yet, when Israel is trying to protect themselves from attacks literally coming 100 meters away from them is wrong? Please, explain me that.
Ninja
I'm no supporter of the Iraq or Afghanistan war, but in neither case have we sought to occupy either country. Irrelevant.
And they didn't lose it, you took it.
chokosc
We aren't looking to occupy Gaza, we have no interest in that place!
We were fine with what was proposed to us in 1947, they said no, attacked and we won the war. How you call it 'taking' is beyond me.
bluemoon.
Because you took it. It's as simple as that.

It's nice to see an Israeli perspective though rather than British people speculating
chokosc
But we did it in fair war rules. They attacked us in 1947, we won and got the land.

I'm against Hamas, but I am pro-Palestinian and the fact is, Israel VASTLY overstepped recently and once again are killing women and children (despite saying that their attacks are all pinpoint strikes). My cousin is a USAF Strike pilot (or he was before he resigned his commission after 15 years in disgust) and he said that Israel seems to just be trying to punish innocents to send a message. He would know how that is because his squadron had been ordered to bomb civilian areas in Iraq during that war.
Samirah
Wrong. Under International Law and the Fourth Geneva Conventions, you have no right to annex or take land. Abbas has said he will begin negotiating from the 1967 ceasefire borders, but anything else is frankly illegal and even most Americans admit that. Make no mistake, without US support, Israel would be alone and a pariah.

How would the English users on here feel if Scotland and Wales decided they are ready to get rid of the English? They start firing missiles at you daily. Will you not react? Will you just let it pass with the wind? Of course not. England will attack in such a situation. That is the difference though. Britain and the US haven't been fighting for their land, they were fighting terrorism in another continent, far away from them. We are fighting to keep our land safe and that is what you guys don't seem to understand, for the small fact that you guys didn't really live through anything like that.

Northern Ireland wants to have a word with you.
Not that the English handled that as well as they could've, but at least they didn't just bomb Derry from a distance and then say "ok, you've ruined it now we have to take more of Ireland". It also goes to show it's possible to reach a solution with stuff like this. The difference is in Israel noone wants to reach a solution, they just want to win 100%.
chokosc
What do we want to win? We want to win peace. Just as we tell them that they agree to ceasefire they kill a soldier. Are we supposed to not respond to that either?

Israel investigating Gaza attack that killed 11 Palestinians, nine members of a single family...

Perhaps those who support the Palestinian movement should have a look at who is 'defending' Palestine rather than look at Israel. I'm not saying Israel is perfect but when it is distilled down to the bare facts Hamas are not the real defenders of the Palestinian people, they are catalysts to more Palestinian deaths.

It's a quote that's basically a cliché at this point, but I'll bring it out anyway:
"Fighting war for peace is like fucking for virginity"
chokosc
The sad part in all of this is that you still believe that we are occupying Gaza. We aren't. We have no military forces in there, ever, since about 2005. They are almost a country just that they aren't a country yet, which is also the reason why it can't formally be called a war. If we wanted Gaza to be part of Israel, we probably would have done that a long time ago. We don't want it because if we do make it part of Israel then the people living there will get voting rights and the chances will be higher that a Muslim will be elected (although still very small). I don't want that as much as I don't want a religious guy to get elected.
Are you telling me that? My two best friends in England we a Saudi and a Lebanese guy. We were really good friends. I was even in a football team where half the kids were arabs. I am the last person that you need to show this. I am all about living in peace. Sadly, the citizens aren't the one that decide on the peace and the Hamas are currently holding back. Well, I guess we all have to move to a peaceful country, such as England, where at least 50% of the people don't even get this.
It is sort of true. I still don't think this is a war and if it is, it is a very small one. It is more of one side hitting back at the side that fired first.

It's just fighting back so expect more. When you spit on the memories of those who died in concentration camps in WW2 by building your own then you have zero room to complain. Karma is what they call it.

Shut up KM.

It is harsh but yet it is true.

Innocent civilians don't deserve to die based on the actions of governments and leaders. If you genuinely believe that those who suffer at the hands of terrorism do so because of 'karma' then you're even more of a sick individual than I suspected.

Comparing anything that is happening in Gaza to the holocaust just makes you look like a right up dick. It is nothing like it.
