Hi guys this is my second emulation of Xabi Alonso's tactics, I emulated this current season 2024-25 tactic that is a bit different from last year

2024-2025 Tactics

Mentality: Positive

In Possession:

Attacking width: Fairly narrow
Play into space
Build out from the back
Focus play down the flanks (left and right)
Crossing: Mixed
Work ball into the box
Tempo: Slightly higher
Passing: Shorter
Be more expressive

In Transition:

Counter-press
Hold shape
Distribute to center-backs
Take short kicks

Out of Possession:

Line of engagement: High
Defensive line: Higher
Pressing: More often
Prevent short goalkeeper distribution
Stay higher: Use offside trap
Force opposition outside

Player Roles and Instructions:

Hradecky: Sweeper Keeper (Support)
Tapsoba: Right Wide Center-Back (Defend): No additional instructions
Tah: Central Defender (Cover): no instructions
Hincapié: Left Wide Center-Back (Defend): close down more
Frimpong: Complete Wing-Back (Attack): Mark tighter, tackle harder, dribble more, close down more
Grimaldo: Wing-Back (Attack): Mark tighter, tackle harder, dribble more
Xhaka: Deep-Lying Playmaker (Support): Tackle harder, mark tighter
Palacios/Andrich: Ball-Winning Midfielder (Defend): Mark tighter
Wirtz: Attacking Midfielder (Support): Tackle harder, dribble more, roam from position, move into channels, get further forward, run wide with the ball

Unlike the previous season where he used to cut inside to overload the central areas, Wirtz now starts centrally and moves wide to support the right wing-back Frimpong.

Hoffmann: Attacking Midfielder (Support): Dribble more, roam from position, move into channels, mark tighter, get forward when possible

If new signing Terrier plays, his role changes to Shadow Striker (Attack) with instructions to roam from position. Terrier moves alongside the striker in a 3-4-1-2 setup.
