I've just seen what Gabriel did for the first time.

As if he got sent off for that in the first place

Also Carneiro's left Chelsea, incoming lawsuit for constructive dismissal I imagine.

Gabriel won his appeal.

Bit of a joke really.

Not sure how you can kick out at a player, which was seen by the ref and then have your card revoked. But go on and ban Costa for slapping his arms into Koscielny, which wasn't deemed bookable by any of the officials at the time. Both should have either been banned or had the whole thing tossed out and ruled free to play. I suppose there'll be no action either for Gabriel failing to leave the field of play?

I genuinely don't care that Costa has been banned, he was lucky to not have been sent off originally, but the decision making at the FA and their continuously bending over to the media agenda needs to change.

I suppose the FA are still getting around to viewing Naismiths kick out at Ivanovic the other week...

There is absolutely no consistency with the FA and that's the annoying part.

http://arsenalist.com/f/2015-16/chelsea-vs-arsenal/gif-from-espn-brazil-s-coverage-showing-gabriel-s-kick.html

This is the angle that Arsenal put the case towards. Look at Cesc the fucking snake. People had the cheek to clap that cunt when he came back too.

Biggest joke of all is that Mike Dean is still a Premier League referee after all of this. He has the most arrogance I've seen on the pitch from an official, his ego is as big as Ibrahimovic's, despite being an irrelevant entity. He's an absolutely shite ref.

What's it a red card for?

The only possible reason he could have been shown a straight red card was for violent conduct, which he quite obviously didn't do. It's petulant, yes, but its not violent.

If you correctly rule out violent conduct than you're beholden to the the normal laws governing infringements i.e. was his 'kick or attempt to kick' careless, reckless or using excessive force (except you're not going to be shown a red for kicking someone with excessive force, that would be violent conduct so we can ignore it).

I think its between the first two and had he been shown a second yellow there probably wouldn't have been much cause for complaint but he wasn't. So I think rescinding it is completely reasonable.

Pretty much same situation

You can't just go around kicking players no matter what force is involved. I would still class it under violent conduct (yeah I know there wasn't much violence involved which kind of makes me sound like an idiot).

2007 Laws of the Game:

Violent conduct

A player is guilty of violent conduct if he uses excessive force or brutality
against an opponent when not challenging for the ball.

He is also guilty of violent conduct if he uses excessive force or brutality
against a team-mate, spectator, match official or any other person.

2007 Advice to Referees:

12.34 VIOLENT CONDUCT
It is violent conduct when a player (or substitute) is guilty of aggression towards an opponent (when
they are not contesting for the ball) or towards any other person (a teammate, the referee, an assistant
referee, a spectator, etc.).

Two quite different definitions there. I'd say he was guilty of the second one (although again, it was more petty than aggressive..) no matter how much force was put in.

To simply put, he was stupid and could have saved himself a lot of trouble. The quicker the people learn to not react to Costa the better.

He's still being charged for improper conduct so I'd expect he'd still get at least a games ban.

Just saw the kick, holy shit it was so fucking casual.

If Gab was going to be sent off/banned I'd rather he have Costa feel a couple of studs to the foot.

He got a red card for that? Mike Dean gave that and yet neither him or his assistant saw the Costa incident. What a fucking dreadful ref.

Zzzz Mourinho is still on the moan: "I don't want to comment but..." classic.

Seeing rumours on Twitter that Rodgers is very closing to being sacked. Ancelotti and Klopp linked.

EDIT: Ah, from talkSPORT. Probably not true then.

4-1 City have gone from looking unstoppable to being a shambles.

Some awful decisions from the officials but it's scary just how much worse we've looked without Silva (or Kompany).

It hasn't helped that Aguero is playing absolutely abysmally, because he's generally the one who picks up the slack.
