Headhunters is pretty great, right? Way more violent than I thought it'd be

As a Scandinavian thriller, it's excellent. As a film, seen from a global perspective it's not really much more than okay.

Really says a lot about how fucking awful most Scandinavian crime/thriller films are.

What are your favourite documentaries? Going to watch Jiro and The Imposter at some point this week and wondering what else you would recommend.

Thin Blue Line is terrific, if a little dated.

Made use of the HBO on-demand service we got a couple of days ago and watched 12 Monkeys for the first time in ages.

Spectacular film, both Terry Gilliam's directing and Brad Pitt's acting are excellent.

Watched Jeff, Who Lives at Home last night (only heard about it through this thread) and once I got past thinking it was Marshall and Stu, I enjoyed it. Charming little film.

Saw Rise of the Guardians last night. Was really warm-hearted and child friendly but the animation was pretty awesome and I laughed quite a bit. Was about as good as I had hoped.

Sat down and watched Batman Begins and The Dark Knight yesterday for the first time and both were absolutely fantastic. Have The Dark Knight Rises too but just have to find the time to watch it ffs.

I've just finished watching the Dark Knight rises and it was probably the best film I have ever seen. Nearly cried at the end, so many twists, big well done to the people who make it.

If that's true that's a terrible shame. There are films that are far superior to the TDKR in virtually every category.
