There's been rumours flying around about Rooney's absence from the team not being for the stated reason given by the club, they ramped up last night and there's been fairly well documented reports of legal threats by Rooney's people to the point where newspapers have issued retractions.
There's two ways to look at I guess, either its demonstrably bollocks, and Team Rooney are just trying to protect their 'brand' or they're close to the truth and they're trying to stop it getting out.
Discussion of it starts on the bottom of this page:

Carroll.

Yeah, but with the legal threats and the precedent for suing people for posts on forums (thanks Oystons) and the like I thought it best not to repeat them here. Especially as the rumours are easily found elsewhere.

In any case his absence is definitely puzzling, Red Issue said a couple weeks ago he turned up to training with alcohol in his system.
LvG said he may play tomorrow and has been training all week.

BR.
He should be sacked for saying that alone, never mind the absolute rubbish he serves up week after week.
Not that I'm complaining if he stays on

i actually found myself feeling a bit drowsy just watching it on the telly, watching the ball go backwards and side to side for 90 minutes is strangely hypnotic...
Sam
Maybe do something about it then.

We've been pretty boring under Van Gaal the entire time.
We had that good patch when we beat City, Spurs and Liverpool in that good run, but for most part we've been poor.
Sam
Ahh, those were the days.
K3V0
We really didn't realise how good we had it under Sir Alex and David Gill.

What I find weird about that run, and I can understand wanting to phase Fellaini out, is that at no point during our shit run of form this season did it occur to Van Gaal to replicate those tactics.
K3V0
I'd be inclined to think he's not even contemplated that or had it cross his mind.
I doubt there'll be much change tonight against Newcastle tbh.

So thats Valencia, Young, Rojo, and Shaw out with long term injuries in the full back position.

History repeating itself after Busby left. Same mistakes.
