Didn't City lose to Kiev at this stage not so long ago? The way they're playing history might just repeat itself.

Arsenal v Barcelona should be a fantastic tie, obviously wouldn't expect Arsenal to progress but they'll have a good go i'm sure. Sanchez going up against his old team mates as well bit of extra spice, can't wait!

Chelsea got PSG, again? 3 years running they've ended up playing each other.

Bit unlucky to lose, but in the end 2-1 is a result that still gives us a good chance. Better result than I had anticipated given the reshuffle in defence, but feel Costa should have netted one of his two good chances.

I just can't stand it when he slows play down to try and draw the foul instead of passing the ball.

Watching PSG last night and seeing how they play/look compared to the Premier Leagues best sides play just makes our league look even worse than it already is.

Bet 365 asked a question on FB/Twitter yesterday asking where PSG would finish in the Premier League, and unsurprisingly there were a number of people (who are probably spoonfed their football knowledge by Sky Sports) saying around 5th or 6th. Reasons given genuinely included not being able to deal with two domestic cups and matches such as Stoke away

The insular nature of English football is really weird. Despite the fact that we're on course to lose our 4th Champions League spot, have Leicester leading the table, and two of our biggest clubs in mid-table people still seem to think its a sign of how 'competitive' the league is.

PSG would probably struggle the most I would think, just because they've never had to play in a league where they've needed to get results. But Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern, probably even Juve and Atletico would walk it.

The Premier League has been shit for a while compared to the other leagues. The only reason it is so competitive is because the big teams didn't manage to get better and the smaller teams have.

English clubs could never cope with playing both the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue!

Bollocks, only ones who would walk it is Barca and that's cause with that front trio they're miles ahead of anyone else. Other teams would probably win it / challenge but no walk in the park.

Barca wouldn't walk the league either, no club would. The only games Barca need to really show up for during a season currently are games against Real and Atletico and the CL. The rest they can more or less play in 2nd/3rd gear for the most part. Sides cannot do that in the EPL. Even the mid table and lower sides have the ability to cause top sides issues because of the way they play. Besides maybe one or two sides, there aren't really any easy fixtures to the degree seen in a league like La Liga.

The only reason Barca don't have to 'show up' against mid-table La Liga sides is because they have the best forward line possibly ever assembled. Included in that is a player who tore apart the 'mid table and lower sides' for fun here. The same for Madrid (in fact they've got two of them) and whilst Bayern don't have a player like that, they have a better forward line than anyone in this league.

They'd destroy most teams in this league without getting out of first gear. Hell the last half decent team playing the PL had, Ferguson's last United side, won the league by about 15 points. If people honestly believe this 'windy night in Stoke' narrative then god help them.

It's not even their whole side, as a whole there's probably been more balanced sides. But that front three is ridiculous.

I'm not even sure its the best Barcelona side of the past 10 years, but yeah, man, that front three.

If you're comparing it by defence to defence, midfield to midfield etc; then of course. But the front three is easily the best attacking trio ever and would obliterate any team they come across.

Nah.

The Capello-led Milan side that won back-to-back European Cups, the Real Madrid side that dominated European football in the 1950s and as Ninja mentioned, Guardiola's Barca were better.

Reckon the PL is more competitive. But you'd have to be fucking deluded to think Real, Barca, Bayern etc; would be at least 10 points clear this year.

That said, which clubs do you think are overachieving this year? I think quite possibly only Leicester. I think Spurs are at there level and aren't significantly better than their previous better sides, and Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd are all at they're most inept in recent memory.

It doesn't work like that in the EPL though. The the way sides approach top sides is in a completely different manner to that of what is seen in La Liga. No doubt Barca's forward line at present would be very dangerous and cause a lot of sides trouble, but that doesn't translate to being able to just dominate more competitive sides at a drop of a hat. The EPL has more competitive sides that would, and do at present, cause top sides trouble. It certainly wouldn't be the absolute romp Barca enjoy now. It's easy to get results when you're miles ahead of the pack and only need to really focus for a few weeks of the year knowing your sides individual talent will no doubt do the job alone for the rest of the season. I'd like to see Barca having to play a run of difficult games on the bounce and be put in a far more testing environment.

Naturally they are a good side, and can only beat what's in front of them. But the EPL is a completely different ball game compared to La Liga and they wouldn't get away with a lot of what they do now, that's for sure.

Each to their own though.

Not sure how you've come to that conclusion, we're way better than our previous sides. Also Watford are overachieving, nobody would've had them this high up at any point during the season.
