Ferdinand was celebrating with our fans behind that goal.

Was wondering how the fans are seated and how close they were to City fans for him to get hit by a coin (or whatever it was)? As the way the City fans were reacting was as if they were actually celebrating in front of the home fans.

I think that's a huge misconception, don't get me wrong 3 or 4 years ago he wasn't brilliant but he's obviously worked extremely hard at it and is pretty solid now

I have to put up with seeing Andre Santos at full back, so believe me you have absolutely no worries with Johnson's defending.

Our fans were basically directly behind that goal, flanked either side by City fans.

Don't know where he actually was when he got hit, but I think walking round the goal was the section of City fans.

And I think he got hit by the sheer weight of numbers more than anything else.

The fans were close in that corner Gruber, don't think he was provoking them.

Rooney got hit when he was taking a corner earlier on as well.

According to the police a drugs test was thrown at him too, but he managed to avoid it.

Normally I'd give him the benefit of the doubt but Young, Rooney, Jones all went out of their way to celebrate in front of our fans today, I'm quite confident Rio did too.

Obviously that doesn't justify a coin being thrown at him but it was a dick move nonetheless.

2p.

The game threw up some questions about fans today. How were people able to get flares in? Why was a fan arrested for racist abuse and then the coin incident. Also I hope Tevez gets banned for that kick out

Apparently the arrest was for a City fan who called Evra 'a black twat'

How did they get flares in? They hid them on their person.
Why was a fan arrested for racial abuse? Because he racially abused a person.

Not very difficult questions.

I think he means why is football going culturally backwards this season.

Apparently the whole crowd was giving someone abuse and then it was one of those moments that happen when everyone suddenly goes silent and he shouts that out across a silent stand.

It isn't. It's just the advent of phone cameras, twitter and audience power have led to a society where turning the blind eye is something we're not capable of doing. All of these events that have happened in the last twelve months are not new occurences. It's just people have started caring more and more.

Yeah it's not new, it's just getting highlighted more. If anything it's better than it was before.

About 5-10 years ago I was at a match Uriah Rennie was refereeing and the amount of racial abuse hurled at him was ridiculous, imagine what it was like in the 80's.

Nah, he wasn't.

Can clearly see him in front of the United fans when he gets hit in this video.

Meanwhile, United’s winner was down to Nasri’s laughable understanding of what constitutes being part of a wall.

One of the things I understood when I went to watch the Chelsea - Barcelona game in 2008 was how shit nets are. You can't see anything through them and it gives you a headache. They better not put them in

It wouldn't have helped anyway cause it would have to be really fine to stop a coin getting through, never going to happen.

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill rubbishes the notion of his job being under threat, saying he is the only man for the job at the Stadium of Light.

"So what do you do then? So you go and put someone else in charge, he gets a group of 12, 13 games and can't win any matches? It's the same thing," says O'Neill, whose side currently reside in the bottom three.

"I don't want to sound wildly boastful, but not only am I the best man for the job, I am actually the only man for the job."

I think he's the best manager Sunderland can hope for really. I'm sure their form will pick up, they just need a decent result to turn things around.

Isn't Roberto Di Matteo still out of a job? Surely he'd be worth a punt as far as Sunderland is concerned?

Maybe.

Although didn't West Brom sack him?
