But I very highly doubt Mourinho is licking his lips at some of them, least of all Memphis. Other than the fact he's a bit shit, at least based on what we've seen of him so far, I struggle to see Mourinho accommodating a lazy, work-shy show pony who thought he'd hit the big time the second he rocked up in Manchester. If he doesn't make flogging him the first order of business, which would be harsh but probably deserved, he would have to change his game considerably to fit in. The author makes the example of Hazard and Ronaldo, but both of them are players you would make far greater concessions for, and even Hazard had to fight to fit in.
If I was any of Darmian, Rojo, Blind, Herrera, Mata, Memphis, or Jones I'd probably be very worried right now.

I think Blind hasn't done much wrong, considering he has played in an un-natural position for most of the season. The rest I 100% agree with

I think Blind has been excellent.
I just don't think Jose will like him.

I'm not sure who was in charge of the signings at Inter, but their first season signings seem pretty bad, Crespo, Muntari, Mancini, Quaresma and Luis Jimenez - can't recall any of those doing anything for Inter.
But second season was all funded by player sales, Zlatan was sold, and Vieira, Cruz, Figo and Crespo all left. Milito, Eto'o, Lucio (were all outstanding signings - but all in their later stages of their careers), Sneijder and Motta were excellent signings as well.
But looking at their team, Julio Cesar, Toldo, Lucio, Materazzi, Samuel, Chivu, Maicon, Zanetti, Cambiasso, Millito, Eto'o, Stankovic & Ivan Cordoba all aged 28+ and Mariga and Muntari not really good enough imo.
Meaning the squad of Sneijder, Balotelli, Pandev and the suspended Thiago Motta being the only players the following managers could really rely on going forwards - a bigger worry would be he got rid of Leonardo Bonucci, and kept 4 CB's all aged 32+....

Mourinho will probably have some instant success as usual, but I predict things will progressively go south sooner or later. Can't see him being at United for any longer than 3 seasons. His media handling and antics will no doubt displease a lot and will drag the club down, while also creating a divide with certain players. The squad is probably the weakest squad he's taken control of since Porto and there aren't many "Mourinho type" players to work with. Will be very interesting to see what unfolds over time, that's for sure.

Plus Giggs supposedly isn't going to remain as backroom staff, which to be honest I'd be delighted with.
EDIT: That escalated quickly. Daily Mail, Mark Ogden and Sam Pilger all saying it's happened, LVG sacked. Plus all the Dutch staff members.

The fat man reckons official statement at 1.
Edit: Fuck off Sam. Stop posting things 15 minutes before me because I haven't refreshed the thread.
Giggs reportedly offered a demotion to coach (boo) but will reject it and leave (yay)
Carroll.

LVG getting a £5M pay off supposedly. I wonder where Giggs is going to fuck off to.
Franck
You're talking about a man who once bought Quaresma. I'm sure he'll at least try to make something out of Memphis.

"Here, have a stand named after you."

Not sure I believe this. I genuinely can't believe LVG is that deluded to think that this season was actually acceptable and didn't have an inkling that this might have happened even if he wasn't told (which he probably wasn't because I very highly suspect he would have given up if he had been).
Franck
Don't worry, Ibra is United-bound.

Fucking hell, imagine that for a double announcement.

Feel sad for him and I still like him. Just didn't work out for him here.

All things considered I think we've handled this pretty well.
Sam
I'm delighted he left winning a trophy too. Enjoy your paradise Louis.
bluemoon.
Sounds like you've handled things pretty well behind the scenes, and done an absolute abortion of a job when it comes to managing the press and the public perception of events.
Carroll.

Despite some City and Liverpool fans accusations we don't control the press. Not much we can do if someone to do with Mendes decides to leak the news after the FA Cup final. We've kept the English media in the dark since December over it
So what should we have done then? Taken out an injunction?
People will say 'oh yeah, he should have been told' but it just doesn't happen. You can't run a multi-million pound business on the principle of doing nothing during the season out of respect and then blindly running around trying to scrape the barrel when you realise you have to sack him, your targets have fucked off elsewhere. Besides, we tried that approach before and ended up with Moyes.
Carroll.
But the fact all the press knew he was gone before he did doesn't seem like handling it very well.
