The alternate Scottish system returns for 2018 to replace the current cyclical system.
The system is as follows:
- 16 teams in the Premiership, Championship and League 1
- 4th tier split with the Highland and Lowland League, 18 teams each
- 5th tier North Caledonian League and South of Scotland Football League feeding into the Highland and Lowland leagues respectively, 18 teams each
- 6th tier split into 4 leagues of 20, North and South A and B
The Scottish Cup is now open to all available teams. In addition, the League Cup is played by the teams of the 3 SPFL leagues, the Challenge Cup has moved to the 4th and 5th tier, and the Junior Cup is open to all teams from the 6th tier down. The Glasgow Cup has been reimagined as the new Super Cup of Scotland.
Main changes from last season's database include:
- The reduction of the Premiership from 18 to 16 teams
- The SPFL playoff systems have been tweaked, with teams competing in a two-legged semi final, before the grand finals at Murrayfield.
(I'd recommend ticking "Add Players to Playable Leagues" when setting up the game)

- Added more TV dates to the Scottish Cup
- Queen's Park and the university / college teams are now set to 'Always Amateur'

- 4th and 5th tier leagues reduced to 16 teams, 6th tier leagues reduced to 18 teams
- 4th tier relegation spots reduced to 2 in each league, and the 5th tier promotion system has changed, with 2nd and 3rd playing a one off match for the 2nd promotion spot at a neutral venue
- Slight decreases to initial TV money for the 3 professional leagues
- Start dates and end dates have moved for each league, with the aim to decrease midweek matches
- Junior Cup semi finals run over 2 legs, with the final to be held after the 6th tier season ends
- The Scottish Cup final, playoff finals for the 3 professional leagues, and the Junior Cup final will have extra time played with 1 additional sub allowed to be made
- General fixes
- Staggered final fixture times for the SPFL leagues

Damn, that sucks. Been testing it since the game came out and it works for me. Anyone else getting this popping up?
