I've got Gouffran on FM atm. His only stat above 15 is acceleration (which is 16) but he's pretty good - so Newcastle fans should be optimistic

I think Gouffran is there to provide cover tbh - Marveaux and HBA will be our two wide forwards I hope.

If we get Sissoko we've had a brilliant transfer window, our starting XI is so strong.

Did you get that from Football Manager hints?

No.

I get the impression we want a striker who can play on the wing and after failing to get Remy (and presumably other targets) we've settled for a cheaper option as and have spent the money elsewhere. From a couple of French experts, they seem to be suggesting Gouffran is good, but not great. Also read he's not very quick.

He's an awful finisher.

So he's exactly the same as Benzema except he's not very fast and he can't finish

By the sounds of it Pardew wants to return to the 4-3-3 and wants his new striker(s) to be comfortable playing out wide when necessary.

Yann M'Vila has signed for Rubin Kazan and Fergie is thinking of going for Victor Wanyama

I imagine Wanyama would be to plug the big Darren Fletcher shaped hole that we have in midfield

we could do much worse than Wanyama for sure, shocked to see M'Vila go to Kazan mind

Makes me laugh when any black player goes to Russia tbh.

Hey Merson your being unfair as the Zenit Fans Club Chairman said the Zenit fans aren't racist they just don't like black players and think that the board are forcing the black players on to the team

I'm under the impression M'Vila lacks the attitude and mentality of fulfilling his real potential. Or was he just hyped?

I'll be fucking devastated if Wanyama goes to United. Anyone but them.

It's hard to say really, when he's on form he's brilliant but unfortunately he's got that Joey Barton, Craig Bellamy attitude about him which could leadt to his career going 1 of 2 ways, he does a Bellamy and he turns it around and has a great if slow starting career or he does a Barton and continues being a dick and no one give a fuck about him..........except the french

Joey Barton works hard.

He's certainly not blessed with pace, strength or size.

Aye, when he's on the pitch he gives 100%. Good passer of the ball too.

Nowhere near as good as he thinks, though

I find it quite funny that all these Utd fans that want Wanyama have probably only ever seen him play against Barca.

Not the worst team in the world to see how a player performs against.

I made that point too in the case of Arsenal fans. Someone asked "What player would you like to see Arsenal sign in the transfer window?" and Cavani and Wanyama were the two players with the most votes.

It's the same with most players outside the PL. People only see the odd match and they make judgement, the rest is just hype. That's why we get 'Ibra is shit' being the common opinion for 5 years until he scores 4 against England and suddenly he's good. Everyone's been pissing on about Sneijder but most probably haven't seen him play since Euro2012 and are just going off his good displays at the World Cup and the CL when Inter won in 2010.

I'd be very surprised if we let him go for anything less than his full contract value.

He'll be fined until he returns.

no one has said they expressly wanted him, zeonflux mentioned the rumour and i can admit that i havent seen much of him, certainly not just one match but not loads, all i said was we could do worse?

In all fairness, Cavani is class
