But born, nonetheless, in the modern day capital of Uzbekistan and he plays for Nigeria hence 'Russian'

Birthplaces are completely irrelevant in discussions about a persons nationality. Jus Soli was not practised by the Soviet Union and is not practised by any of it's successor states. He is Russian and Nigerian, he most certainly isn't Uzbek.

People can have more than one nationality and belong to more than one ethnic group at a time, it's hardly rocket science.

So you agree that he was A) born in the Uzbeki part of the USSR? B) Is Russian? and C) Doesn't play for Russia?

Because that's what I said.

Apparently Wenger was interested in signing Stevie Wonder but he turned them down as he couldn't see them ever winning anything

I completely understand the INTENTION of the joke, but it really makes no fucking sense.

Sorry about that, anyways in a serious note why is Wenger moaning about other managers buying players in the January market just because he doesn't want to use it, then again he only really uses the summer market to sell players

Joey Barton must be one annoying cunt, he's only been in France 6 months and half of France are emigrating to Newcastle!

We've agreed a deal for Coutinho, 8.5 million. Pretty happy with that tbh, thought he was older than 20 though

Hate the Milan clubs' transfer policy. Never particularly liked Juventus but they've built a very strong team and are always trying to improve, on the other hand Inter and Milan just take the money, run, and go and buy some no-hoper.

Sky Italia reckon Milan are trying to get Super Mario for ~€20m.

Haha. Was good timing, but I was thinking more along the lines of Mesbah, Constant etc. If Balotelli did go to Milan I don't know whether he'd actually knuckle down or not, could easily go either way. He'll end up there eventually though at some point.

I thought the Milan clubs are more famous for baffling swap deals - Milan got Seedorf and Pirlo, while Inter got some relatively fair poor alternatives - than sinking vats of cash into no hopers. But yes that does seem to be one of their habits, and a strange one at that.

Inter's thinking with the Coutinho and Sneijder deals is simply to sell two players (one on massive wages) that don't really fit their 352 formation and use the money to bring in Paulinho who does. Personally I'd have kept both so you've got a few more options if the usual tactic isn't working, but I'm sure they know what they are doing...

Inter's transfers in the 90's/ early 00's were so bad! Milan seemed to get how plusvalenza worked and sold Inter rubbish and as Number1 said, Inter built half of Milan's team for them in return.

Edit: Plusvalenza was a way Italian clubs made their accounts look better. Milan and Inter each sell the other a reserve for €3m. They put the sale in as a €3m lump sum and spread the purchase over 3 years, creating a false profit for the year.

Can't see Kolo signing for them now - although maybe as a pre-contract agreement - we're short on centre-backs as it is, so it'd be a shock if Mancini lets him go now.

After signing Wesley Sneijder, Galatasaray have agreed a one and half year deal with Didier Drogba.

Yeah that was the rumour yesterday. The talk today is that it's just a cash deal staggered over a number of years. Wouldn't mind getting KPB, though, he's certainly different to what we have now.
