Fb goal that.

I'm not saying he's awful but, and i just googled it because you cunts didn't let me be lazy, he doesn't seem like he's got enough about him to justify spending £10m on him. Probably would have been good business at about half that.

The lads only 21 though, willing to give him time to prove himself.

Borini took half a season before he started scoring regularly at Roma last season so it could be a similar story with Liverpool.

Also, I doubt you guys could have got him much cheaper than you did seeing as Roma had just spent €5m on the other 50% of his rights earlier in the window.

Can't believe we're 3-2 down, Di Natale has been superb. Don't know how Pinzi didn't get sent off though

Yeah fair enough, I thought he was older to be fair.

Who knows, maybe after he grabs one or two he'll show himself to be a natural goal scorer but I've not really seen many glimpses of any great natural ability so far, but as you say, early days.

Ref bottled it with Pinzi and cant tell the time

Should have started with Suarez/Gerrard/Sterling imo and taken them off when were clear infront, hate it when teams try and do it the other way round. Plenty of positives to take from the game though.

Molde 2-0 Stuttgart.

As much as I hate writing this, that's an impressive win for them.

Did Napoli field a weakened side tonight? Had them in an accumulator thinking they were in good form and saw them get spanked 3-0.

I'm not really that dissapointed with the result, especially after seeing that. Dominated the first half with a secondish team, then when Suarez, Sterling and Gerrard came on we absolutely bossed it, really unlucky. Plenty of positives, and only the Europa Leauge so not much worry about result.

A bit yeah, Cavani and Pandev only came on as sub, Inler was an unused sub, Hamsik suspended.

De Sanctis, Maggio, Zuniga, Behrami and Campagnaro made up the rest of the bench and will probably start the big game at the weekend so yep, pretty much a B side tonight.

Crappy mentality from some members here. We should really value the Europa League, most clubs do, it's just an English mentality that they are superior to the competition.

Nevertheless, superb performance and nothing to be ashamed of.

Anzhi (a)
Anzhi (h)
Young Boys (h)
Udinese (a)

I'd say we need 2 wins or at least 6 points to qualify, maybe 7pts, so roughly 9/10 in total.

We need at least 3 points from both Anzhi matches, and then we need a win over Young Boys or Udinese. This would see us progress, and our performance tonight suggests that we can, just so unlucky about the result.

No, Italian clubs treat it with even more disdain and I don't think the Germans or French are overly keen either.

The Germans take the competition more seriously than any nation. Perhaps not Spain but it's a big deal over there. Italy and France you have a point but even now the hierachy at their clubs seem to promote a competitive run in the EL.

We were superb for the most part. It's just a 20 minute period that we completely shut down and got punished big time. If we can take full concentration into each game then we become a force, but the loss of it is a recurring trend.

I think I read somewhere recently that there's talk of completely abolishing the Europa League and expanding the Champions League to 64 teams. Not sure if it's a serious proposal or just talk, but don't feel it would be a great idea diluting the quality of the competition, although UEFA felt fine doing that with the European Championships.

Ideally, they should just leave the Champions League as it is, change the Europa League back to a straight knockout competition from the off and bring back the Cup Winner's Cup.

I really don't see how German clubs take it more seriously than the Spanish or Portuguese or some of the Eastern clubs and Italian's are only starting to take it seriously since their coefficient has taken a battering and they've lost a CL spot. Either way, I just think the competition as a whole is not that highly regarded by teams who may feel they could push for a place in the CL rather than concentrate their efforts in this competition.

Nah, Gerrard was alright. Should have scored though.

And Eurostar, shut up. It's not a dire mentality, it's just this competition is obviously not as important as others. It would be nice to win it, but I'm not going to cry if we dont, because A) I'd rather do well in the league and B) It's no Champions League and wouldn't really prove anything from us as a club.

So its all about the money -if theres money to generate there at all- that Liverpool takes part in the europa league? Or aint there a reason?
Why bother anyway then? Why not give the europa place to the team behind Liverpool then? Maybe they would enjoy taking part in europe.

I'd say reaching the semi-finals/final of the Europa League, beating a couple of quality sides on the way, would restore some much needed credibility for Liverpool and would prove a respectable achievement.

Champions League should be top 2 maximum, that way there is a lot more quality in the Europa League.

I remember the days when fans wanted their team to win absolutely everything, how times have changed.
