Frequently Asked Questions

If you've never downloaded the pack before, you should just download the larger "complete pack".

If you're not a premium member, it is recommended that you download the base megapack via torrent by going to our cut-out megapack download page. After which, you should then download all the update packs released to date and apply them chronologically.

If you're a premium member, just download the most recent complete pack.

If you already have a version of our Cut-Out Faces Megapack installed, then click "Download Latest Changes" and you'll be presented with a list of all the updates we've released since you've last downloaded a file. Simply download any you might have missed, applying the oldest first and continuing to apply update packs in the chronological order in which they were released.
Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. You need to use Winrar (or a similar program) to extract the downloaded file.

Contrary to previous versions of the game, there is no need to change any settings in the preferences in FM26.
You need to copy and overwrite the faces and the new config file from the update pack into the faces folder.

If done correctly, you should be asked if you want to overwrite files – accept. You should have one folder for faces and another folder for iconfaces, and no sub-folder whatsoever in them.

These steps are to be repeated for every update pack downloaded, and they are to be installed chronologically.

Watch this YouTube tutorial video, which should you guide you on the steps you need to follow to install it. It might be for FM24, but the steps are exactly the same.
It's a known issue with FM26 - read this. We're assuming this issue will get resolved in upcoming official patches/updates.
The new players were added before FM26 was released and didn't have the right UID yet. We've started the process of mapping them to the correct person's UID.
When you have a blank space instead of a cut-out, it means there is a config file pointing to a folder in which an image with that UID is not present. This generally happens when an update pack is installed in a separate folder and not part of the overall faces folder, or there is a rogue config file somewhere. It could also be that you have somehow not downloaded the full megapack but only part of it. Search within the graphics folder for the UID of this person, and you will probably find the secondary image. Delete that folder, and it should be fine.

Otherwise, follow the steps in this comment and post the results so that we can assist you.
In line with guidance on the official SI forums, At present, FM26 cannot handle multiple files with the same name. For example, if you have two files with the name "kit.png", it will not load both. and Player Faces: These work fine. You do not need the icon files anymore, and they can cause issues with the note above. Delete them.

As a result, the iconfaces are no longer available for download because they're not needed. You should also delete the iconfaces folder manually from your system too 👍
You need to change your user data location. Simple steps on how to do so can be found here.

It is recommended that the user data location is not placed within the Steam installation folder as this may cause issues.
The torrent file includes the base megapack uploaded just before that year’s FM version is released. Any and all subsequent update packs are to be downloaded separately.
For those who have never used torrents, in the vast majority of cases, it's just a question of downloading the client program (a small file, less than 1MB) and then downloading the megapack torrent file (a tiny file, around 20k) and then letting the program do the job.

Torrent files need a torrent client to be downloaded. I personally use µTorrent but other common clients are BitTorrent, Vuze and Deluge. For those using torrents for the first time, here is a general walk-through on how to download torrents and a specific guide for µTorrent.

Be aware that it will take a substantial amount of time to download the file due to its sheer size and that other people depend on you hosting the file to get it so please leave your torrent client on after you have fully downloaded it. The etiquette is generally accepted to be to upload as much as you download, although this might not always be possible. The older the torrent file, the less likely it is that there will still be users seeding it.
Please report this so that they can be reuploaded. Since the files are hosted outside our pages, there isn't much we can do about this unfortunately. You could try downloading the pack via torrent and get it this way.
Extracting the file will take a while, but it shouldn't take the hours and hours that the program extracting will sometimes say it will. To speed it up, it is recommended that you have as few programs running as possible so that the system can dedicate as many resources to the extraction as it possibly can.

Secondly, for files as large as this, the calculation of the extraction time will be wildly incorrect at the start. After a while, it'll show a more realistic timeframe, which shouldn't be more than an hour or two if you have a good setup and few programs running at the same time.
You might have a poor internet connection or your browser might have some extensions which interrupt this download. Having loads of downloads ongoing and/or streaming may also de-prioritise this download.

Try using Google Chrome in incognito mode (or the equivalent mode for other browsers) and you should be able to resume the download from the point it was interrupted, if that happens.
The most recent update pack will include the most recent config file, so you can choose to download it and use it from there.

Alternatively, you can download fmXML and generate a config yourself. There's a video on YouTube on how to use it but it's really easy and the instructions are quite straight-forward.
Down the years, after an update pack was released, it was noted that some images included therein where of the wrong person, with a wrong extension or duplicated. Due to the way the download system is structured, these cannot be removed from the download, so there may well be a couple of hundred images’ worth of difference, depending on the version you download.
Our megapack covers 25,000 teams and it's impossible to cater for these kind of requests since players and staff get transferred or sacked or retire etc and recreating and reuploading 25,000 different smaller packs would be an impossible task. That's why we have all the images in a megapack so that everything is captured therein.
These persons do not appear in the default database for licensing reasons. This means that they only appear in your save-game because they were added via a custom file, generally the real name fix file. However, this means that their UID (which is what is used to map a person's image to the right individual) is different, and so the game cannot assign the image to them from your existing facepack.

To get them to show, you should individually download any previously available cut-out faces from here (or use the UID to find them in your existing facepack if you don't use the cut-out megapack), put them in a separate folder to your existing facepack and create a config file just for them using the method outlined in here (which works for all facepack styles, not just the cut-out megapack).

@mattyspurs76, I've got no idea where you've got a lot of those faces from. For example, the cut-outs from UID 1-11 have got nothing to do with the cutout megapack. UIDs 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9 are different to the ones in the megapack, while I have no idea where you got 5, 7, 10 and 11 from as they're not in the megapack.

Posting screenshots in different skins is not really necessary as it's not a skin issue. The fact that you're getting the default black face rather than a blank space indicates that either the config file is not the correct one or it is not in place. How big is it - it should be around 16MB?

It's clear that you haven't installed the files related to this download correctly and that you have added other stuff to it, which may be causing the faces not appearing correctly. As I can't know exactly what you did, I would suggest deleting the whole megapack and re-downloading it again, taking care to install it as per the instructions.

It is possible to mix and match facepacks and different formats, but you must have everything in separate folders, and it looks like you mucked it all up, I'm afraid.

So...download v11 and all updates or just the latest update for it?

Yep. Luckily for you, just prior to our conversation trail, a nice gentleman uploaded a torrent file including the whole 11.11 megapack, as well as the individual 11.x update packs - may as well download just the former

Make sure you remove every facepack you've installed before re-installing the megapack.

Welcome. It shouldn't take you too long. Downloading the torrent file for 11.11 is something you can do in the background and shouldn't be too onerous

A word to the wise for the future: Avoid installing packs released individually. Just wait until the next "official" update pack is released, which will include only the missing images and genuine improvements and which is guaranteed to work. If you start adding packs yourself, you may be adding images which are not improvements without a way of knowing what you overwrote and if it's correct, and also increase the possibility the megapack itself does not work as intended.

Hi
Im just looking for some help.

When extracting an updatefile...say 11.03 do you need to edit the xml config file in the original pack. How does the game know to use the most recent image? or is there something else you need to do? Thanks

When extracting an update pack, you should move the cutouts and config file into the main folder, and not as a sub-folder. If done correctly, you should get a prompt to overwrite files. This way the old files are replaced and you are using the latest ones.

To clarify, you should have one folder and one folder only with all the files contained within it.

To be safe, I would extract the files to a temporary folder, then move them over manually to be sure everything's going into the right place.

I would need screenshots of:
a) your preferences folder in-game
b) a screenshot of a player whose cutout appears
c) a screenshot of a player whose cutout does not appear
d) your cutout megapack folder

This will help me identify where your problem lies.

I'd prefer to have screenshots of that page and of the other places. I can't really help you otherwise. It's clear there's something wrong at your end, but I can't know what it is without the screenshots.

You'd be surprised how many people in this thread were adamant their setup was correct only for the screenshots to prove it wasn't. And it'll probably be something quite minor and easily rectifiable...

any help out there as to why the premium download for the face megapack might be dropping out on me on multiple browsers?

It may be an issue with your internet connection. As it's such a large file, the chances of a brief interruption happening naturally increase. If you use Google Chrome, it should be possible to resume the download from the point where it was interrupted, rather than downloading it again from scratch.

If that doesn't work, try to look at this: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000839.htm

Hi, any tips for extraction speed? I extracted 6.5gb background pack for 20 minutes but for some reason Winrar says it needs 44 hours to extract the fullpack (13.5gb). Thanks!

The estimated time with Winrar with big files usually takes a while to settle down to the actual time. Hopefully by the time you read it, it'll have settled down accordingly.

As mons said, it usually lowers the time after a while. But a tip get the extraction to run faster is to extract from one drive to another, for example from C: to D: or vice versa.
