Anyway:
The Football Association of Ireland has decided that the players who participated in the fixture deserve caps, particularly Damien Duff for the service that he gave to his country. Consequently, the Association has informed Damien that it will recognise his status as having earned 100 caps for Ireland.”

That's good, to be honest some cock up about the referee appointment shouldn't matter, FIFA just being tits as per usual.

In saying that Duff has started quite well for Fulham this year, wouldn't mind seeing him back in and around the squad.

Read somewhere else that FIFA might not recognize the game as having taken place.

BBC says the FAI makes the decision so obviously the above isn't true/doesn't matter.

I don't know.

The boys will take a huge amount of confidence into this game after beating the mighty Kazakhstan in their own back yard. Personally I think that was the major test in this group, not Germany or Sweden.
