It isn't actually. Thanks to the grand interwebs it is actually quite easy to sell car parts to others, in fact I've known people who did the very exact thing I described.

Yeah, when I'm looking for spare parts for cars I always go past the first page on google.

Sweden has been blessed by the presence of a website called Blocket, where people go in masses to buy whatever junk other people are selling, including car parts.

Buy a Volvo 850, break it down and actually sell it for spare parts and I will legally change my first name to El Hadji. I will use a new passport as proof. You do realise I'm just looking for an excuse to do this. However just doing it makes me look sad, doing it for a bet makes me look masculine. Plus, in a bar, telling a woman your name is El Hadji... it's easy as fuck.

You change it by deed poll, then send the document to relevant agencies (Passport, DVLA, bank etc) and they reissue you with the documents.
