This file will need to be re-applied if/when official patches/updates are released to ensure full compatibility. This is due to the fact that some files which are removed when installing this file are automatically re-installed by Steam when official patches come out.

Some of these changes, ESPECIALLY THE CLUB NAMES, do NOT apply in FM Touch or in existing save-games. There's a workaround for that in the first post.

The sortitoutsi real names fix changes the instances of fake names in Football Manager 2020 to the proper, real life names for awards, cities, stadiums and competitions, in cases where the actual name is not licensed, such as Champions League, Europa League and Premier League displaying instead of EURO Cup, EURO Vase and Premier Division respectively. It will also fix the fact that the German and Japanese National teams don't call up real players and that the Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach managers have fake names. These are all fully save-game compatible.

There is also a club name changes file, which changes the names of clubs in a way which ensures that any nicknames entered in the default database are retained. This file includes the proper names for Brazilian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian (including Juventus) and French clubs to circumvent licensing restrictions. It also adds real-life media and journalists, encompassing most major footballing nations and continents. Brazilian clubs' text colours are also changed through an editor data file. Finally, it includes a small file which corrects the 3-Letter competition names to correspond with any changes made in the lnc files. For all the files in this paragraph to work, however, you will need to start a new game.

Follow the below instructions to install this version of this file

STEP 1.

Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Football Manager 2020\data\database\db\2000

depending on your set up.

You can find these folders by clicking, in the Finder, the Go menu in the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder and type the folder path name (obviously inserting your username), then click Go.

You can get to the Library folder by simply selecting Go from the top bar and holding "alt" key - The Library folder suddenly appears on the drop down

For Mac Lion users, the Library folder will be hidden. Use this link to find out how to show it.

For those struggling to find the Steam and Steam Apps folder etc using Mac with the new OS High Sierra, this link below shows how you can unhide your Library folder which will then let you find the other folders.

Slightly more detail in this post

STEP 2:
COPY the dbc, edt and lnc folders from the downloaded pack

STEP 3:
PASTE them into each of your respective folders mentioned in step 1.

These are what the respective folder structures should look like in the 2040 folder:

dbc: https://i.imgur.com/je40Ajx.png
dbc/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/1FH8ABp.png
edt/permanent: https://i.imgur.com/aat5BqX.png
lnc: https://i.imgur.com/a87Z77C.png

STEP 4:
COPY the 8 files located in the EDITOR DATA FILES folder in the downloaded pack

STEP 5
PASTE to
\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\editor data

\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\\GAMEPASS\editor data

Users/YOUR Mac USERNAME/Library/Application Support/Sports Interactive
By default this folder is hidden, so to access you need to do as follows:

Open Finder
Click ‘Go’ from the menubar
Press and hold down the ‘Option’ (Alt) key
This will bring up the ‘Library’, click to enter then go to ‘Application Support’ -> ‘Sports Interactive’ -> ‘Football Manager 2020’

This should be what your editor data folder looks like now. There may initially be a config.xml file in this folder and it can be safely overwritten; it is generated by FM every time the game starts.

https://i.imgur.com/u8XTmoc.png

To make sure the files have been applied correctly, go to the Champions Cup and EURO Vase in your saved game, and they should be renamed to Champions League and Europa League respectively. If you are in the middle of a save-game, Japanese national teams will be populated in the next instance that players are called up, and not immediately. Do keep in mind that this file does not add Japan-based players, who are not in the official database and will need a third-party add-on to be created and added.

Club names are only changed if you apply the editor data files before starting a new game. For a workaround if you've already started a new save-game, then please read the opening post of this thread.

I was able to install the licenses on the Game Pass. For that, I created blank files with the same names that the game always creates. Not all licenses have worked, for example the Juventus name remains Zebre, but most have worked well. I send the file I created.

Some teams are no longer in the A series. Like the cruzeiro

thanks for letting us use your efforts to make the game more fun and real.

HI,

Quick Question, Just downloaded the file and it appears like this.

I'm assuming it should be a folder and not a one off file?

I suggest changing name MZKS Arka Gdynia to Arka Gdynia only. MZKS is a 'full' name but normal common name is Arka Gdynia. MZKS was used few decades ago

Hi,

I'd suggest an update for Canada:
It's been a few years that Amway is no longer the sponsor for the Canadian Championship. It is only branded "Canadian Championship" now.

thanks for providing this patch, I'm loading up a database on the updated gamepass version, I'll let you know how it goes after some testing.

Anything else to be changed for the Canadian competitions?

Also, there is a file specifically for Gamepass here

I'm guessing these small changes shouldn't be drastic enough for me to restart my save?

In the vast majority of cases, a new release of this file doesn't necessitate starting a new game and the vast majority of changes made would be save-game compatible.

The exceptions would usually be towards the start of the game's release cycle (and I'm talking the first day or two, really) where the initial releases of this file are still testing the water, so to speak, and there may be some "crucial" things I may not have realised needed to be added. Otherwise, you should download and re-apply the files whenever a new version is released. Any save-game compatible changes are added to your save game and changes which aren't, well you won't have lost anything by having more recent versions of those files, will you?

Ah, okay. I didn't realise most of these changes were save game compatible, I'll download the latest one then, thanks

I went over your competitions inc file before starting and looked at Canada and CONCACAF stuff and that's all I changed.

So, after loading up this patch on the updated gamepass version of FM, everything looks fine, like Juventus' name and stadium, etc. But nothing fixed for Brazil, same as with your gamepass patch.

For the Brazil text colours and names to be changed, you need to have this file before starting a new game. If you're starting a new game and they're not displaying correctly, then you haven't installed this fix right. If this is the case, can I have screenshots of your dbc and dbc/permanent folders, and of your editor data folder, to see what's possibly gone wrong there?

As explained in the main post, the fix for Juventus needs to be in place before starting a new game and will not work in the middle of a save game. Is this the case?

I'm having a hard time starting up from scratch.
Installed all updates as required but when I try to start a new career game, I'm missing some countries(leagues). There's a red triangle that says that there's more teams found than required.
What can I do to fix this??

That's not got anything to with this fix, I suspect.

Have you downloaded other editor data files such as new leagues etc? It could be related to them, for example.

I downloaded the January update but I can see that after removing this it all comes back.....
Any reasons why this update crashes the game?

And sorry for writing my comment here, I just didn't know where to put it.

The one from FMI on Steam

Not sure why you don't speak to the creators then rather than here

If you have the latest version of FM20, it's probably not needed anyway because the 20.4 official data update includes all the latest transfers already, so you should be able to proceed to start a new game without that file

No worries. But you wouldn't buy a car from Toyota, and go ask for help for it from your local Mazda showroom, would you?

Like I said, remove that file, you don't really need it if you have the latest official SI data

You'll need to Login to comment
