Football is the most popular sport in East Timor but due to limited resources in the nation, the national team has always been towards the bottom of the FIFA World Rankings their highest ever rank being 146 in 2015. The domestic leagues in East Timor have suffered similarly and as of 2019 no clubs from East Timor have ever entered into an AFC Continential Competition.
East Timor were barred from 2023 Asian Cup qualifying due to fielding a number of ineligible players in the 2018 World Cup qualifying matches.
Managing in East Timor in Football Manager 20 is a perfect Road To Glory story. It is also relatively fast and easy to get through the years with the Premier League teams only having to play 14 league games and the lower tiers even less. The end goal is to obviously win the World Cup with Sol Nascente - “The Rising Sun” but you can also attempt to win the AFC Champions League after I imagine years of slogging it out as an AFC Cup team as well as improving the league as a whole. Whatever your aim is just know that it will certainly be a challenge.
This file activates the Premier Division, Second Division and the Third Division in East Timor for Football Manager 2020. I used the 2019 structure and placings as I’m not 100% sure what team changes will be made for next season, especially in the lower tiers but if you follow East Timorese football message me and I’ll update.
A few other things:
Prize money and participation money is a complete guess and I may be way off I couldn’t find any figures to put in so fantasy will have to do for now.
Even though there is no playable league under the East Timor Third Division teams are still relegated each season and clubs in the database in the “East Timor Lower League” competition are randomly promoted.
Third Division kits were randomised due to most of the clubs not being present in the database and I couldn’t find many pictures to get the right colours for each team so used the Randomise Kits feature and I’d say the kit colours are quite balanced.
Players are the same as the normal FM database so there maybe some out of date information especially for the lower tiers. I may try to update and correct squads throughout the year.
