This is sweet. Fuck off Spurs, complete bottlers. Forever in our shadow.

I dread the day it's our turn to bottle it tbh.

Shame Fergie didn't win on his final game, but what a game. Defence were terrible today, Lindegaard again shows how shit he is.

Fergie going to the fans at the end was wonderful.

We should of easily beat Chelsea today. If we had a striker who could even hit the target we'd do fucking good. Yet again one of Moyes' masterplans of taking a striker off for a defender worked wonders in conceding a goal, it's his favourite trick. Hope Man United fans look forward to it.

Well ground out by Arsenal (although Newcastle didn't offer much at all). Decent effort from Spurs though I think overall - 72 points, United won it with 80 a couple of years back. Was funny when Spurs fans were celebrating 'cos they thought Newcastle scored

I know it wasn't all about the result today for United but I bet throwing away a 5-2 lead will annoy Ferguson for a bit, knowing how much he wants to win every game.

Stelling said he was surprised to see West Ham 10th because he thought they'd be down the bottom this season - he must have forgot they've got Big Sam in charge.

Heard Carragher hit the post with a long ranger, would have been quality had that gone in!

I hope people realise that Arsenal fans aren't celebrating 4th place as if it's some form of trophy - we're celebrating because we've beaten our greatest rivals on the last day of the season despite being 7 points behind them 10 games ago. We need to push on, and Champions League football offers us a good platform to do so.

Spurs would have been celebrating even more if they'd gotten in, so Lineker can go fuck himself.

Love it. Even though it's not a trophy this was so vital. Could end up being the peak of Spurs, if they lose Bale. Qualification would have meant definitely keeping him and strengthening with the big extra funds that would be available.

I'm quietly confident that Wenger/the board knows that the limit has been reached with selling players now and he will spend big this summer, especially now that we're in a better position financially These past 2 seasons have been so close and relied on Spurs bottling it but here's to next years title challenge

Yes Champions League football will really help Arsenal push on 16 seasons. imo they totally over-celebrated a season of treading water.

At least Newcastle didn't unveil the 'finished above Sunderland trophy'

Well champions league helps to attract big players, which I think we will this summer for the first time in a long while and also stops Spurs buying big players.

It will help us push on more than finishing 16th, that we can be sure of.

16th is outstanding. Being in the Premier League will help us attract the best players. We should therefore have an excellent season next year.

I honestly don't understand the point you're making. Are you saying that qualifying for the champions league is no better than not qualifying for it? Discuss. (10 marks).

EDIT: As an example, there are reports that Villa is/was waiting to see who got into the champions league before deciding whether to go to Spurs or Arsenal this summer but no, it's all the same really.

My point is celebrating fourth place like it's a trophy when Arsenal were third last year is pretty pathetic. Obviously it's better than not qualifying, but it should be minimum requirement. If it will lead you to attract better players, you've had CL football, for 16 years, and you're team has went massively backwards in that time.

OK, Villa is signing, great! Next year will definitely be our year

Bitter much.

Fucking hell man. This myth about us being happy with 4th place is complete horseshit. Kroenke might only care about that, but the fans, players and Wenger all want to compete for trophies. Finishing fourth is the very minimum we should expect, but given the fact that we've clawed ourselves back into the top four after a pretty awful season - and beating Spurs in the process - is a cause for a celebration. It's not pathetic, it's just acceptance of where we've been this season and being pleased with doing what we realistically could achieve.

Also, this.

Completely agree.

Loved AVB saying after they beat us that the defeat would send us into a 'spiral of negativity'. 8 wins and 2 draws since including Bayern Munich away

Yeah, that was a cheap shot. He loves the Europa League anyway, so he'll be happy next season.

Aye, Europa should be more interesting next year with Swansea, Wigan and Spurs in it. Although I reckon AVB might go a bit easier this year.

AVB after beating us in March;

“It’s not a big enough margin yet for us to be completely safe but what we think is that it can have a direct effect on their motivation,” Villas-Boas said.

“On ours too of course – and we have a difficult game against Liverpool coming up – but particularly on them. We are on an upward spiral in terms of confidence and they are on a negative spiral in terms of results. To get out of that negative spiral is extremely difficult.”

Funny how things work out, ey?

I find it really funny as well. Sure, qualifying for the CL is good but you celebrate it when it the first time you qualify, or the first in many years... Not when you've been there for the last 16 seasons...

If you haven't attracted many big names I very much doubt that you will this season, because you qualified

Yeah nothing wrong with what AVB said, you were in a spiral of negativity and you've done very well to get out of it.

Still a bit embarrassing seeing the celebrations today.
