New Football Manager ID Lookup Tool fmref.com

Alot of people use the guides and graphics sections of the site to quickly find ID's for nations, competitions, teams and people in Football Manager. However this isn't the intended purpose of those pages and this task can sometimes be slow or cumbersome.

So i've spent some time putting together https://fmref.com/ to help people quickly and easily lookup IDs.

It's designed to be quick to use with results appearing instantly (if you have a fast enough connection) and no need for a mouse with a few easy to use shortcuts letting you search, navigate and copy ID's to your clipboard.

I'm open to adding new features if people have some suggestions but advanced searching for things like “Left Backs with expiring contracts” will not go in as this will significantly impact the speed and cost of the application.

Right now it does a query on every single keystroke, for some people with poorer connections this may not be ideal, i'm waiting on feedback before implementing any improvements in this area.

I hope to use what i've learned developing this to improve the quick search found around the site when adding data update submissions and other areas.

I'm going to tag some people who I can see in the logs search alot so they see this and hopefully give some feedback 🙂

I found a funny bug, you can't use the letter c on the search bar. Maybe because is used to copy IDs?

Whoops just shows you shouldn't be lazy with your testing. Fixed now 🙂

team 932 should be updated (and its second team) in the database - they are kickers offenbach (full name offenbacher fc kickers 1901), but kickers is not included as their name, only offenbach (see their logo, too).

@Minderline10  Are they in FM? Can you give their Unique ID from FM?

@Footygamer  is it possible to add certain categories that can be selected as search filters?

for example, say i wanted to lookup all the ids of officials/referees from kazakhstan.

would adding a dropdown menu where you can select the role (player, nonplayer, official) and nation of an individual or group of people you want to look up be feasible or would it be too much work / slow down the the search significantly? thanks in any case 👍🏿

i mean specifically only the categories and roles above, no position on the field or contract details.

i had mentioned in the pdf thread that this would unearth the search results for people who are free agents / without a contract in the db.

what footygamer means is if the club is included in the game database with a unique id. a listing on another website like transfermarkt won’t help much.

This is pretty good. Just out of interest, is there a way to bulk search for UIDs? 

I am working on python scripts to sort my graphics folders out but when I can find the occasional list of UIDs I need, there are often some that aren't on there, so being able to quickly bulk search would be useful?

@xbenjaminx  Not at the moment, i'm struggling to think how that would work from a UI perspective. Would you expect a textbox with ID's separated by comma, space or carriage return and then what would the result be? If you put in 1000 would you expect 1000 results unpaginated in the same way they are presented now, or in some other way?

Yeah kind of. Basically one of the other games I played (Trainz) has an index website that allows you to look up missing files (trainzkuidindex) and basically it allows me to put in whatever KUIDs I want and it will bring me up any results if there are any. I can't remember if there's an upwards limit on the number per time as my sub to that site expired a good couple of years ago.

That being said, your site is pretty useful. At the moment it's helping me rename around 4000 files although progress is going slow (hence hoping for bulk) - my only other suggestion possibly (if you're taking suggestions) is clicking into the record could bring us to the profile page on here?

Clicking on a record such as division or team brings up children of that record which i think makes the most sense, clicking on something with no children such as a person, stadium or official isn't that useful you're right but i'm not sure linking to here is the right answer. I was thinking about adding copy and pasteable XML config lines or something like that possibly.
