What are you talking about? The whole debate at the moment is what that clause means, which is why we tested it out and there's since been a dispute. From what I've read Suarez's people thought that offering £40,000,001 would activate the clause and allow them to speak to us, which is why we made the bid.

But it's not hard to understand it was a little unclassy. The clause was that anything over 40 million means we have to let Suarez know, everyone knows Liverpool would not accept 40 million so the offer of 40 million plus £1 was made just to unsettle Suarez. I'm not even saying it's wrong, that's how transfers happen these days but Arsene fully knows the offer wasn't going to be accepted.
