Have a look for an early version of photoshop, i still use 7.0 and its very old compared to what out now, im guessing its cheap and the extract tool work great for cutouts.

Billy Bean has joined the back-room of the San Jose Earthquakes as a consultant, I'd be surprised if that warrants an FM inclusion, but I believe FuriousP is an FM-USA researcher, so I assume he's right

It seems for now anyway, you can download the full version of Adobe CS2 see this Blog post. HERE
Yes, it's old, but it's still excellent for cut-outs.

What do you guys think? It's obviously not perfect i know. One thing i have not been able to figure out is how to cut out the image so there is no background to speak of. I cut out the image, but it always has a white backround, so i end up having to cut it out using the wand on paint.net, where as the wand in Photoshop does nothing for, and the white background remains,
Any tips for anything at all would be well appreciated, i would like to get good at this and help out.

Combine the two techniques (Along with transparency change HERE and snow removal video HERE) and you'll be there

I use Paint.Net, not GIMP so I won't be much help with it.
It may be worth checking out what "Plug-in's" are available for it as there may be an extration type tool available. The Plug-in that I use for Paint.Net allows you to turn a selected colour transparent, which is brilliant for getting rid of plain background, so might be worth looking for a tool which would do a simular thing.

I'm not sure what program and technique you used to cut that image. Back when I had the time to cut, I personally found Refine Edge on CS5 to serve my cutting needs. There's a tutorial in the OP, if you want to give that a shot.
Allow me, moreover, to suggest a few things which would improve your cuts. First of all, I personally prefer my cuts to be a bit more bright, so I brightened your cut a little bit.
Secondly I zoomed in on your cut, as there appeared to be some flecks of snow on the edges, partly as a result of the glare of the sun on the guy's hair-edges.
You might think it tremendously minor, but when you look at cuts which have snow, on a dark background they jump out at you and it really improves a cut to remove the snow. Ideally, you don't have the snow in the first place, but if you finish your cut and find some rogue snowy spots, then you can use this quick technique (short YouTube tutorial) to disguise them.
This is the final cut after my "treatment":
What is the player's ID so I can compare him with any existing cut in the MP for possible inclusion?
Despite the long write-up, it's really not that big a deal and it took me only about a minute to "fix". It really doesn't take a lot of work to correct these small issues.
I hope you take this in the constructive spirit in which it is intended - hope we see more of your work soon

Will give it another shot later after watching the tutorials in a bit
thanks
edit - don't think he has an UID it's Takashi Usami of Hoffenheim who isn't in the original DB

I'll add him to my no-IDs folder then.
To start off with an easier cut, try to find a source with a plain background. There's plenty in some of the requests in the teampack request thread, including some of mine

I believe it's 18x20, but you do not have to produce them yourself for the purposes of addition to the megapack, as our site owner Rob has created a system whereby icons of all the cuts in each megapack update are created automatically and made available for download...

They look good. There is a blue tint to them, but I'm sure that is from the original source photo's, but might be worth tweaking the colour slightly to try to get rid of it.
The only other things I would recommend is maybe rotating Cole's image slightly so it is straight (it is best to do this before cutting/resizing) and adding more to Sturridge's shoulders so they don't stop suddenly.

I did this Chris Hughton one because I had the old one of him in the yellow Norwich shirt and the boxed off shoulders were doing my head in.
I'm not sure if it's a good start, but I was quite proud of it.
Posting it in here to see if the clean-up squad can give me any advice, and then I might post it in the Alt. image thread...(?)
Are the edges too sharp?
mons
But it's not a bad start at all!
oko030
Thanks! And I thought as much.
Do you have any tips about reducing the sharpness of the edges? Blur tool?
