Fellaini was the best player on the pitch against yous and he's proven in the Premiership, why not just pay for him?

(Not saying Herrera wouldn't be an unreal buy, just making a point)

Fellaini's good game against us was when Michael Carrick was playing centre-back, he was anonymous when we played them second time round. But yes, I see your point.

I would like us to go get Fellaini because he can be physical and dominate games something most of our midfielders can't do. I watched the Everton game against West Brom and he is practically impossible to contain when he gets going, quite similar to Yaya Toure I suppose.

EDIT: We'll still need a creative midfielder though to stand any chance of being successful in Europe.

Bilbao have confirmed a bid for Herrera and have rejected it. Saying that he'll only leave if the player says he wants to leave, and if the €36M release fee clause is met. No mention who the bid was from, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was us.

Apparently they confirmed in the press conference that it was from us.

Aren't there stipulations to do with Spanish tax/VAT or something that could take it well beyond 36M?

jojojo is pretty on point on Spanish shit, this is her take on it on redcafe.

"If you pay a release clause, you may have to pay the IVA (VAT) as you would on a normal transfer so that adds about 7m. However a VAT registered entity gets its VAT back so that's no big deal. Indeed as a foreign EU company we probably won't actually need to lodge the IVA as international payments are done without it."

Apparently had a £12m bid for De Rossi rejected as well. Sky Italia reporting via Prima Punta that neither Roma or De Rossi want the transfer.

Well if you're having to use him if he doesn't go on loan then it doesn't bode well in your search for a striker does it?

It makes no difference, and Bendtner has been out of the equation. Just because we can't shift him doesn't mean we're suddenly going to abandon our search for a new striker as the option to retain him as been there all summer, but we've still gone after forwards.

According to Juventus director general Giuseppe Marotta we've renewed Nani's contract.

Also apparently Liverpool are after Shay Given as backup to Mignolet.

Jones apparently wants game time as it's a WC year, so we'd need a back up. Still, we need a CB and another attacking player first.

I personally would love us to get Fellaini, we have no-one like him and ive always been a fan of him at Everton. I would love us to get a creative midfielder/creative winger aswell though as i dont have the most confidence in Nani and Young. Hopefully Valencia can get as sharp as he was a couple of years ago.

Herrara made more key passes than Cleverley and Kagawa combined last season, and 90 tackles as well.

Sploosh, do it Woodward.

12m euros I think.....was never even going to be considered, in all honesty.

I don't think it's genuine, I reckon it's just a nudge towards Everton/Fellaini.

Anything under £20 million imo would be scandalous given how good De Rossi is and I doubt he'd leave Roma.

Sky Sources understand Tottenham are prepared to make Real Madrid wait for Gareth Bale.

It is thought Spurs are determined to string out negotiations for fear of triggering a series of events that could see up to three players join Arsenal from Madrid.

That would make sense, if only they didn't spend 11 million for Alessandro fucking Matri.

Can't see them paying for Honda when he's available for free at the end of the year.

Apparently we're close to signing Tiago Ilori and Mamadou Sakho, pretty happy with Sakho, never heard of the other guy but he's quite young so one for the future i guess. Also we're after another attacking player before the window shuts.

S.Y. Ki on loan to Sunderland for a season. Apparently he wanted more playing time as Laudrup made it seem he'll play less, even though he was one of their best players last season. Laudrup seems to rate Shelvey higher than Ki, which is just idiotic.

They don't need him do they? He's better off staying in Schalke to play every game, he's not going to develop in Arsenal.
