Siem De Jong is shite. Like really shite.

That means he'll score a hat-trick today

It's not Siem is it though?

We have been linked with signing him but at the moment his brother Luuk is wearing our colours. He's actually registered an assist as well - first thing he's done in ages.

I feel bad for Newcastle fans. Pardew is a complete joke.

Luuk De Jong is absolutely dreadful, he did grab an assist today however. Shola scored though, which shows Swansea must be pretty shit themselves.

Would be nice if Pardew left, but it's not happening for a while

Dull, miserable football, strange tactic choices (today we played 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 4-5-1 and 4-4-2 all in the space of 45 minutes) and players playing out of position literally every week.

It genuinely feels weird that we started 2014 just 3 points behind Liverpool. This has been such a weirdly disjointed season - one good half and then one half of almost unrelenting shit.

Pardew has always picked players out of position - Joey Barton as a right-winger (although that was started by Hughton), Jonas Gutierrez in CM, Ba and Cisse as wingers, Sissoko and Gouffran in what seems to be a new position every week. But I think this is the first time I've seen what feels like a whole team out of position.

Seeing as players and fans have given up on this season, what can we expect from the summer?

If by some miracle, we convince Remy to stay, then things might look better for us, but I severely doubt he will stay. He probably won't be the only first team leaver either.

So, who should we buy?

If we were going by name alone, he'd be up there.

Remy won't stay and I'd be disappointed if we sign De Jong. I can see possibly Krul heading out of the door, Ben Arfa reportedly unhappy who else? Debeauty? So potentially we need 6-7 players, on the grounds we already need about 5!

I sound like captain negative here but as it stands I don't imagine many players fancy the challenge, at least not players playing in a top division somewhere

If Norwich get relegated we should try for Leroy Fer, Nathan Redmond and possibly Gary Hooper. Maybe not RvW and his 0 goals in six months record.

I doubt Debuchy will stay and as Ben Arfa and Pardew don't seem to like one another, the player will probably leave.

Hooper could be decent for Newcastle if used properly.

Yay, lets sign all those players Norwich signed before getting relegated.

My #ITK sources today informed me that Pardew is getting sacked when Ashley is back from his holiday. My source heard it from his source, who heard it from their source who heard it from their source who heard it from JC himself - John Carver. Not 100% sure why the hell John Carver would know.

The only French player I'd 100% want who we've been linked with is Riviere, and even that deal looks dead. Lacazette could be useful mainly because he can play uptop and on the wings in a 433, wouldn't be keen on Gomis though, never been a huge fan of his. We have plenty of deadweight to shift this summer, but it could be a tough few months for us, realistically we need a whole new strikeforce. And its the same old question of whether Ashley will invest or just go for loan deals and knock off priced players.

Remy will leave, De Jong, Shola and Cisse all should be leaving, but its probably too much of an upheaval, hopefully we don't sign De Jong, cash in on Cisse and just tie down Shola for another extra year (joy). Beyond that we need to decide on a formation, 433 or 442. If its 442 we need wingers down both sides, if its 433 we need a CM, a ST and an AML at the very least.

We desperately need proper investment this summer, it annoys me beyond belief that we finished ahead of Liverpool, Chelsea and Everton two years ago, we've been out-spent and out-ambitioned by all three since then. We need big investment because the other EPL clubs aren't playing the same games as us, we want a profit, they want success.

I dunno - all 3 have potential at a team that would use them. Whenever I watch Norwich, neither Fer nor Redmond seem to play despite them doing well earlier in the season, and its only now with Hughton gone they've been recalled. Hooper is only really a "maybe" as he's a forward and we need some. There's probably other options available elsewhere.

I have heard rumours we want to sign Jack Colback from Sunderland. Interesting premise, that one.

Meanwhile, Ameobi has reportedly said the lack of investment is hurting the playing squad. But then anyone watching the team knows that.

I'd take Colback, and I'd like Redmond too.

Can't stand the thought of Shola and De Jong up top next year, with Dan Gosling in midfield and it's probably going to come to that.

Apparently Ashley thinks we need "1 or 2 players"

Lacazette's a player, he'd be a good one for you.

Gomis, like a lot of other strikers of his type, can be unplayable one minute then frustrate the life out of you the next. His goal scoring record is pretty good, but I've lost count of the number of times I've said "he'd done the hard bit, all he needed to do was put it away" (or something similar) whilst watching him this season.

If he's going on a free I can't understand for the life of me why we'd give Ameobi another year deal and not take him instead.

Colback rumours are strong atm, especially as he's a Newcastle fan it seems to have added to the momentum. Everton in the running too and I think I know where I'd rather go at this moment in time.

Shola I'd like to believe the source you've mentioned but I don't really know what to think anymore. If Ashley wanted rid of him he's had amble opportunities and when he nutted Meyler he probably could have sacked him without a pay-off, that's a chance a man like Ashley wouldn't miss IMO.

Agree with Skacel's post and then some of the players like Redmond, Lacazette and Riviere would be great. I'd even get Colback just to stop Gosling playing, as Poe mentioned

We won't move forward while we keep playing 4-4-2 without wingers. It's a formation that requires them.

He is favourite for the job if Pardew is ousted.

I dunno how I feel about it as I know I would tire of pieces proclaiming he's using us as some form of "redemption for his failure at Old Trafford" and we don't know how much the experience up there has affected him, but he can't be any worse than Pardew is currently putting us through.

Certainly, I have no confidence we'll avoid managing our 6th Premier League defeats in a row on Monday.

I'd like to see him there. He is still a good manager just wasn't the right fit for us and Newcastle have always been the club ive had the biggest soft spot for so I would love to see him go there and do well.

I dunno. We might not get the chance anyway - if van Gaal goes to Man United, I half imagine Spurs will go for Moyes as LVG was their main target.

Mail are reporting Jack Colback is set to move to Tyneside. If Sunderland stay up this season and he moves anyway, he is going to receive psychopathic levels of hate. He might be decent enough but there's others I'd rather sign.

I'd be happy enough with Colback, he'd be coming in as a backup in the Guthrie/Gosling role, a little bit of that squad depth we've been needing.

I doubt it will be for backup though. Pardew rates Anita and Tiote as a centre midfield partnership despite the fact they have the creativity of a potato.
