Suuuup, thought I would ask you lot a question about technolology. Can you lot suggest a solution for me?

I wanted a laptop/netbook similar to this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007VBBYOM/

But I waited until pay-day and it's out of stock (it was 279.99) now and, really, I need a laptop fairly soon.

I need it to have roughly a 10-12" screen, (just because I carry it to uni and it's a fair old poke uphill). Will consider larger screens.
2gGB+ Ram (pref 4GB).
Decent processor.

I will only really use it to browse the internet, write notes on Microsoft Word. But if the specs allow I may even want to play FM on it whatever.

Budget is about 320 max.

I did think about a Chromebook but not sure if Google docs or if any chrome apps will really able to substitute for Word, (in terms of footnotes etc etc).

Cheers.

Have a look to see if you can get a Lenovo ThinkPad. They're the absolute best when it comes to work. Great keyboards and matte finish. The higher end ones can get pricey, but you can get some cheap ones.

If you're looking for a strictly work based laptop then a ThinkPad is the way to go. You can find all kinds of other ones like HP Pavillion etc which are similar, but Lenovo are the best for work.

Hadn't heard of them but apparently, after a quick google, it seems that they bought out the PC section of IBM. Having a look at a few models atm.

You clearly haven't been on a rush hour trains to London then.
It's basically the company that most businesses use to provide laptops. I learnt to loathe the sight of them.

Nah, I spend most of my time at Bristol Uni, most of the people have Apple products paid for by Mum-ah and Pap-ah.

I like them because of the fact they are sturdy as shit, they're shock proof and water proof, have excellent security, have trackpoint and the number one thing, for me, is the keyboard. Thinkpads have the best keyboards.

They're not very attractive and you can get better spec pcs (second hand etc) for the price of one, but they're the workhorse when it comes to laptops.

Looking into getting myself a new laptop but wondering if it's worth the wait until next year. I know that seems like a dumb ass thing to say but I've been told some highly improved processors are coming out (as always).

What's the consensus on this?

Thanks.

I've been looking at Lenovo's too. I'm going to get the X230, when I can afford it. Portable as shit and can withstand a bull.

Went for this one in the end.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-14-1-inch-Celeron-Integrated-Graphics/dp/B008FPLH4A

Does what I want it to do for 280 squid. Better than the Samsung for the same price.
