Very nice transfer budget for you mate, can't believe Lazio and Udinese got relegated though! Thats huge!

Can't say I'm too disappointed that Lazio got relegated though, you know

The transfer budget got even bigger as they asked me what I thought would be the aim for next season, I said we would challenge for the title and they gave me another 9 million euro.

The Roman side spent 12 million euro to secure the young full back from Milan
After the free transfers of Perin, Destro, Martins Indi Roma added another new face to their squad as they splashed a good chunk of their transfer budget on Mattia De Sciglio, who is understood to be on a 1.4 million euro per year wage now at the Stadio Olimpico. Milan received a fee of 12 million euro plus 550k after De Sciglio's first appearance with the main national side, and a 20% of profit on next sale.

"It's a good feeling to be in a club which has no fear of fielding young players" the Italian right back said as he was interviewed by some reporters while leaving the club's offices; "I'm sure we will be right at the top this season again and I can't wait to start playing with my new teammates"

The Giallorossi strenghten their front force with the young Brazilian
Sao Paulo's Ademilson just completed the switch to Roma in a 6 million euro deal; the 19 years old striker will compete for a place in the starting eleven with the likes of Mattia Destro and Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, but he will prove useful to rotate players or to have another option up front, according to the Roma manager who presented him to the fans in a press conference.

Ademilson will get a wage of 400k euro per year until 2018.

Roma lands another top youngster
After working on the back line with De Sciglio and the front with Ademilson Roma wrapped up another transfer today as James Ward-Prowse signed the 600k euro per year contract which will tie him to the Giallorossi until 2017; Southampton got a 6 million fee plus 550k after the first national side appearance for the mifielder, who will have players of the calibre of Pjanic and De Rossi to learn from in the Italian capital.

"I can't believe it just yet, there's plenty of champions here and I'll be honoured to learn from them" the English youngster declared as he arrived in Rome to sign the deal. The 18 year-old has already proven with Southampton that he has the talent to get to the top, now it's up to Roma to bring it out in the open.

Giallorossi projected to the future
Roma signed today Julian Brandt, 17 years-old German winger, from Wolfsburg for a fee close to 6 million euro; many think it's too much of a gamble from Roma's manager who however seems certain of the talent of the lad.

"Julian will prove to be a gem, we may have paid a nice fee for him but I'm confident he will grow to widely repay it" he said to the reporters asking him about the transfer.

Giallorossi looking to the two Italian talents
It is understood that Roma are heavily interested in Stephan El Shaarawy, but having spent almost all of their transfer budget already they will have to sell before they can land him; it is rumoured that Milan might accept a 40 million euro offer for the striker, a price tag which will scare off most of the clubs interested in signing the Italian player.

A less pricey option for Roma might be Manolo Gabbiadini who could be bought for 10 million euro considering that Juventus and Atalanta both value their half of the player 5 million euro.

Nicolas Burdisso is the latest player to part ways with the Giallorossi this term, following a 4 million euro deal with Saint Etienne; it is believed that Roma's manager decided to sell the 31 years old now that a good fee could still be made out of him, also because Roma's defensive style was not well suited for the Argentinian's main characteristics.

Roma start the season with the right foot
In the first official clash of the season Roma faced Juventus in what promises to be once more the main duel of the Italian football season; tonight, the two sides battled for the Italian Supercup.

Juventus dominated the game but could not score, and were punished on the break by a cool finish from Mattia Destro in the 28th minute; however, Juventus' pressure was bound to bring something to Conte's men, and Matri equalised ten minutes later following a rebound in Roma's box which left him free in front of the unguarded goal.

At half time it was 1-1 but the Bianconeri had been by large the better side; Roma made some tactical adjustments in the locker rooms and subbed the uninspired Gabbiadini, who was playing in place of the suspended Osvaldo on the left flank, with Ademilson, moving Destro wide on the left. This allowed the Italian striker to pounce on Lamela's low cross at the beginning of the second half and put Roma ahead again.

The match was much closer now and while Juventus missed some good chances, so did Roma which was also down to ten men from the 77th minute when Destro picked up a second yellow which sent him to an early shower, but couldn't take the man of the match award from him.

The Giallorossi host Parma for the start of Serie A and come out on top
Roma's start of the season was marked by the absences of Mattia Destro, suspended, and Pablo Osvaldo, injured; up front thus started Ademilson, with Gabbiadini on the left. The pair proved to be decisive in Roma's victory over Parma as the Brazilian opened the score in the seventh minute with a header from close range.

However, Parma soon equalised with a penalty from Belfodil who was tripped into the box by Marquinhos, but it lasted just a moment as at the other end of the pitch the referre assigned a penalty to Roma as well for a foul by Zaccardo on Gabbiadini, and De Rossi coolly slotted it home; to complete the scoring, Gabbiadini increased Roma's advantage in the 20th minute heading a corner from Pjanic past Parma's keeper.

Yeah, the transfer market has been hectic and I have to show you a couple regens coming through the ranks and another two I bought...I'll be sure to do that soon

As for the win, it's nice to have started with a cup win too; I think I might have found a way to avoid all those draws of last season; maybe I'll lose a game or two but I should definitely win more often.

I realized I was giving too many opposition instructions and thus stifling my own attacking moves; so now I give much less instructions, it allows the opposition more chances (even dominating the game if I don't give any OI) but also allows me to play much better in attack and score more.

Champions League draw hard on the Giallorossi
Roma will feel they have been especially unlucky with the Champions League group draw tonight as they were sorted with Barcelona, Manchester City and Anderlecht.

"We will do our best to go through" the manager said at the end of the ceremony, "but there's no hiding that we have a mountain to climb with clubs like Barcelona and City in our group"

Roma return to main European competition after a two season absence.

The Giallorossi invest on two promising youngsters
Roma have spent most of the transfer fee coming from Bradley and Marquinho on two young players which are rumoured to be the next big things in world football; Julio Norinho, a central midfielder coming from Sporting CP, and Brice Charles, a winger/striker coming from Lyon; the pair has been paid a whole of 18 million euro.

Easy win for the Romans
Crotone posed no threat to Roma as they were soundly beaten 2-0 this afternoon, first half goals from Gabbiadini and Destro enough to secure other three points for the Giallorossi which were in control for the whole match, and should perhaps have scored more to prove their superiority.

What is important for the squad is the win though, and it will raise the spirits ahead of next weeks' important fixtures.

The Giallorossi score four to gain the three points
Roma's manager decided to field most of his backup players against Siena to keep the usual starting XI fresh for the Champions League clash with Barcelona, and after a first half in which the home side could not score, second half proved to be a goal fest, with Gabbiadini opening the score immediately after half time with a diving header to meet De Sciglio's cross; then, young midfielder Ward-Prowse doubled the score in 66th minute and Ademilson converted the penalty that was conceded for a foul on the same Brazilian in the 77th minute; soon later Calaiò reduced the gap for Siena, but Ademilson extended it again in the last minute to make it 4-1.

Set piece defending costs Roma the game
Roma put in a good display against Barcelona tonight as the Spanish giants only managed to score through set pieces; it was Eric Abidal who opened the score in the 29th minute following a corner kick, but Roma went at half time undeservedly behind as they had played on par with the more famous opponents.

Second half saw Barcelona soon extend their lead with Song heading a free kick from Xavi past Stekelenburg, but Roma scored immediately after with a nice header from Mattia Destro on a cross from Crescenzi; that kept the home side into the game till the end when the same Destro had the last chance of the game as he met another good cross with a well directed header, but was denied by a tremendous save from Victor Valdes.

All in all, it was a much closer game than one would have expected, as confirmed by Roma's manager:

"We played well and were not inferior to them, perhaps a draw would have been a fairer result but they made the chances count and that was the difference tonight"

Ternana go in front but Lamela denies them the points
Ternana perhaps expected to get a sound beating at the Stadio Olimpico, but Catellani's wonder goal unexpectedly put them in front in the seventh minute, allowing them a five minutes dream before Erik Lamela equalised; Roma slowly got control of the match and took the lead again with the Argentinian in the 27th minute thanks to a perfect through-ball from Ward-Prowse, and of course the cool finish of Lamela; at the start of the second half, however, Ternana equalised thanks to a penalty that D'Alessandro coolly placed past Stekelenburg.

It was ten minutes later that Ward-Prowse patched his own previous mistake by scoring the winning goal for Roma.

Roma started the game on a flyer as Ward-Prowse put them in front in the fourth minute, then a brace from Destro sent the Giallorossi up 3-0 at half time, the young striker chipping Frey for the 2-0 and then volleying a cross from De Sciglio past the French goalkeeper; in the second half, the Roman side controlled the match slowing down their rhythm and conceded a goal to Rennella but never truly lost their grasp on the proceedings, gaining anothe rimportant three points in the table.

Roma allow Anderlecht a two goal comeback but Destro settles it at the very end
A balanced first half saw Roma being held onto a 0-0 draw by Anderlecht, but the Giallorossi came out after the break firing on all cylinders and found a quick lead with Pjanic; they then doubled the lead with Lamela who was found free in the box by Balzaretti and slotted home the ball; however, soon later Anderlecht pulled one back with a header from a corner kick, and then they even equalised as Vargas was left free to correct a free kick from Biglia into the net. Luckily for Roma, their defensive woes weren't to count as Destro placed the ball past the keeper to score the winner just as injury time was about to start.

Roma go past the Nerazzurri but concede two goals
The Giallorossi started the game magnificently thanks to a penalty which Gabbiadini scored, then the home side kept the control of the game but didn't manage to double their lead before half time; not a big deal though, as they did that as the teams went back to the pitch for the second part of the game, again with Gabbiadini; then it was Marquinhos' time to score as he corrected into the net a free kick from Pjanic.

At this point, Roma switched off and allowed Inter to pull back two goals, first with Ranocchia and then with Palacio, almost jeopardising a game they had under control for more than one hour.

Torino try their best but Roma can't be stopped
Roma went to face Torino with a lot of young faces in the starting eleven as the big names were rested ahead of the Champions League clash with Manchester City; the home side then tried to take advantage of that and for half an hour the plan worked, Torino even getting the lead with Gazzi; however the midfielder was also the one to put Roma back on their way as he tried to get on the ball ahead of Ademilson on a cross from Gabbiadini, but doing so he beat his own keeper.

Stunned by the own goal, Torino conceded Gabbiadini a chance from close range and the Italian striker who has been on fire for Roma so far didn't miss it, sending his team at half time ahead by one goal. The gap was further increased by Ward-Prowse, another top performer in this start of the season for Roma, who claimed a loose ball into Torino's box and slotted it into the net; soon later Darmian, who had just come on subbing Andre Dias, pulled one back for Torino, but the dreams of a comeback were put to bed by Ward-Prowse's brace in the 82nd minute as the young English midfielder volleyed the cross from Ademilson to beat the keeper again and earn himself the Man of the Match award.

The Giallorossi play well and get a hard fought win
Roma made a flying start to the game against City as they found the lead in the seventh minute with Florenzi who was picked up in space by Gabbiadini, and the Roman midfielder didn't let Hart scare him as he sent a low drive past the England goalkeeper; seven minutes later, Destro received the ball, saw Lamela free on the right and played a through ball for the Argentinian, who played a low pass for the oncoming Pjanic, and the Bosnian didn't miss the chance, doubling Roma's lead.

From then on the match was quite balanced with chances on both sides but no more goals; Roma will be very pleased with the result which puts them second in the group behind Barcelona, a position they will now try to strenghten in the remaining three matches.
