I'm on Mac and done everything needed for the new update but when on the actual game does let me on the bit where u tick things on data base

Generally when asking for help it's best to provide as much information as possible to make life easier for those helping you. For example you could show screenshots of where it's installed as well as the location of your data folder (search “location” in preferences). Just saying “I've done everything" with no extra details makes it harder to help you.
