FM24 Feature: What are the original, real world and your world game modes?

2 years ago we at sortitoutsi embarked on the massive task of creating a data update that reflected real life with real life transfers happening in game on the same dates they actually occurred rather than starting the game in June with squads from September.

Well SI have only gone and copied us!

Yep in FM24 you'll be able to do exactly that with 3 new game modes:

• Original
• Real World
• Your World

Those descriptions aren't that clear to everyone though so here's an attempt to explain the game modes in FM24 a little more clearly.

What is “original" mode in FM24

To those who are new to the series you may not know what the original mode is. Basically it reflects the squads around the time the game was released. So Harry Kane will be at Bayern Munich. This is despite the fact that Kane joined on August 12th 2023 and the game generally starts in June or July 2023.

What is “real world" mode in FM24

If you choose “real world” when starting a new game in FM24 then transfers will happen at the same time they did in real life. So when you start the game you will see that Harry Kane is at Tottenham, but he will then join Bayern on August 12th just as he did in real life.

One consequence of this is that while Kane will be at Bayern he won't have the same tactical familiarity or match fitness he would if he had been there for the whole of pre season.

SI have not yet announced what will happen if you manage a team. Could you stop Kane leaving or are you forced to accept it? Is it a future transfer that's already factored into your budget? I imagine it will be a forced transfer but this as not been confirmed.

What is “your world” mode in FM24

If you choose “your world” when starting a new game in FM24 then the squads will be reset back to how they were in June or July 2023 (or whenever you start, the start date is based on what country you're managing in). So Harry Kane will be at Tottenham and have 1 year left on his contract. He might leave, he might sign a new contract or he might run down his contract. Anything can happen. If you're managing Man Utd you'll still have the option of signing him.

What's the difference between original, real world and your world in FM24?

• Original: In the original mode Harry Kane will be at Bayern Munich when you start the game
• Real World: In real world mode Harry Kane will be at Tottenham when you start the game and then move to Bayern on August 12.
• Your World: In your world mode Harry Kane will be at Tottenham when you start the game and you can still try to sign him.
