Giorgos Palagostecoglou is a football manager born on the island of Naxos in December 1989. His father was Greek, and his mother was Catalan, so he is fluent in Greek, Catalan, and Spanish. His parents emigrated to Australia, where he grew up and developed his passion for football. After coaching in Australia and across Asia, he gets his first opportunity to manage in Europe with the Scottish club Hibernian.
Does this story sound familiar? This character is clearly inspired by Ange Postecoglou. Tottenham is a team I never particularly liked until this season. The first few months of Postecoglou’s Tottenham were phenomenal, and I became obsessed with him. Finally, I decided to create this alter ego, which is a rough translation of my name, to recreate his playing style in Football Manager.
Knowing that Postecoglou started his European career at Celtic, Palagostecoglou also had to face him. So, the journey begins in Scotland, but which team? Hibernian was chosen simply because the characters from Trainspotting were fans. You know, «Choose a life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose your future. Choose life.»
