Training a player’s weaker foot in Football Manager 2024 can be a valuable way to add versatility and unpredictability to their game, making them more effective in tight spaces, passing situations, and when executing key plays. This guide covers the mechanics of weaker foot training and how to maximize its impact.

Understanding Weaker Foot Ratings

Check Weak Foot Ability: Go to the player’s profile, navigate to the Development tab, and select Tactics

Foot ability is rated on a 1-20 scale:

  • Very Strong: 18-20
  • Strong: 15-17
  • Fairly Strong: 12-14
  • Reasonable: 8-11
  • Weak: 5-7
  • Very Weak: 1-4

Players with a weaker foot rating of 8 or below can undergo specific weaker foot training, which can help them reach a maximum rating of 9. This can make a significant difference for players who frequently find themselves forced to use their weaker foot in matches.

Steps for Weaker Foot Training

  1. Access Training Menu: Go to the player’s profile, navigate to the Development tab, and select Weaker Foot Training.
  2. Initiate Weaker Foot Development: Choose the option to Start Developing Weaker Foot. This option will only be available for players with a weaker foot ability rated from 1 to 8.
  3. Set Realistic Goals: Weaker foot training will raise their rating to a maximum of 9, categorized as “Reasonable.” This can be especially beneficial for players who are “Very Weak” (1-4) or “Weak” (5-7) on their non-dominant foot, allowing them to make controlled passes and shots with both feet.
  4. Timeframe: Weaker foot training can take several months. Regular training sessions and game time are essential to speed up development, when you reach Reasonable and it's taking too much to reach the maximum maybe it's time to drop Weaker Foot Training and shift the individual training workload to something else.
