I just watched 12 Years A Slave.

Fuck me.

It seems like one of those films that I need to be in the right head space for - I can't just sit down and watch it casually.

American Hustle

A tacky, rambling and ultimately completely pointless Scorsese knock-off. This is what I'd imagine Casino would have been like if it was made by a talentless jackass.

Dallas Buyers Club

A sloppy piece of film-making littered with easily avoidable anachronisms that is saved by two excellent acting performances. Matthew McConaughey's Oscar is well deserved.

Nah, but if I'd only seen American Hustle I might actually think that.

Three Kings is awesome and I liked Silver Linings.

I totally get what you're saying. I was into Hustle for the first hour or so, but then I just sort of started losing interest.
All the actors did a good job though, and I wasn't too bored, so I can't complain too much. It just feels sort of like a missed opportunity.

I saw The Grand Budapest Hotel this afternoon and absolutely loved it. It was genuinely funny, the plot was entertaining and the cast of characters were a joy to watch. Ralph Fiennes really does have phenomenal comic timing.

9/10.

Gravity which I thought was massively overrated, didn't enjoy it much at all.

Anchorman 2, huge improvement on the and really did have me laughing most of the way through. Funniest film I've seen for a long time.

Huge improvement on the what?
You hopefully didn't mean to write huge improvement on the first one.

But the first Anchorman is a classic, and the second one is passable...

The Wolf of Wall Street.

I can't really make up my mind about it. On one hand there's some solid acting performances, the kind of production values that you'd expect from a film directed by Scorsese and a few genuine laughs, on the other hand I can't really make out whether the film was meant to be satire or a serious biopic glorifying an asshole and it's definitely at least 45 minutes too long. The only thing I know for sure is that Margot Robbie is fucking hot.

Just caught The Winter Soldier last night. Possibly the best solo movie by Marvel so far.

Really? If it is, that's impressive, considering Captain America is a bit boring.

I watched Insomnia yesterday, ironically while I was struggling to fall asleep myself.

It was okay, far from the worst film Al Pacino's ever been in but definitely Christopher Nolan's weakest effort. Still some beautiful scenery, good cinematography and a predictable but not terrible story. Overall enough good bits to make it a half decent thriller, nothing more, nothing less.

Well I felt it was. Really liked the story and flow.

Plus the credit scenes link to Avengers 2 and Captain America 3

It's still better than Dark Knight Rises. By quite a bit, as well.
I'd argue that overall as a film it's probably as good as Inception.

Also, Wolf of Wall Street is most definitely a satire. I don't think that could be any clearer?

Delivery Man.

Vince Vaughn looked like he had just had botox before every shot. I wanted to punch his fat face so badly. Also, I'm not sure why the media just didn't follow his lawyer, see that Vince was his best friend, and then worked out he lived in the same place as where the sperm donation clinic was.

It was shit basically.

Oh and I'm not a huge Spiderman fan, but I think Dane DeHaan will be awesome as Green Goblin.
