Who else would you go for though, aside from his temperament Suarez is a player whose a safe bet in the EPL.
RealityCheck
You won't get him for less than 55 mil.And even if you bid that much it is not guaranteed that we will sell him

Liverpool - the Jimmy Saville of football.

Higuain! I'd give Real the money.

Plenty of football fans like to adopt a holier than thou attitude about their clubs as soon as they possibly can. I do it, you do it, Telegram Sam, bluemoon and so on. Some are, of course, worse than others but in many ways it's a constant scramble for the moral high ground when an opposistion player does something as bad as Suarez has many times.
Football fans are all, essentially, hypocrits. We deplore action from other clubs that we accept from ours nothing is clearer than that than in the case of Suarez. Liverpool fans would defend Suarez to the end of the world because he's a good player; Arsenal fans would attack him because he's an easy target. The roles reverse and so do the attitudes. Its as easy to see that with United fans opinions on Young compared to Nani, for example, very few people rate Young highly enough to bother defending him from the accusations that he's a little cunt. Criticism of Nani is met with the response that he is 'getting better' and has had it 'coached out of him'
If Suarez signs for Arsenal expect furious backpeddling from Arsenal fans who criticised his diving, stamping, biting and racial abusing because despite all those flaws he would be an Arsenal player and a damn good one. Most will probably codemn the transfer initially before warming to him after he's scored some goals.
It's somewhat sad that we will excuse so much for a player, but it's perfectly understandable.
If you turn down 55m for Suarez then thats probably even stupider than any deal Dalglish did.

I'll quote that when you're enthusing over him in a few months.

His move to Napoli is pretty much done

Jackson Martinez looks to be heading to Napoli as well.

'Work in progress. We are still working with him.'
Seems like the last bid may have been accepted then if we're working with him rather than Barca.
Norwich have agreed a fee for Hooper as well. They're having an immense window.

That interpretation is Daily Mail-esque, IMO.
Sure, I'm not one to judge Moyes' choice of words but to come to that conclusion based on that is clutching at straws, really.
Ninja
Hardly, if thats what he's said (and I'm not even actually sure he did say it, think someone on redcafe sumarised lazily; no one else is reporting it) that's actually significant.

The use of language shows they are talking to Cesc (him) and not Barca (them). It doesn't take a brainiac to realise really.
Eric Portapotty
See, that's the thing I don't get - 'him' instead of 'them' = offer accepted?
And if United really had an offer accepted why did Moyes have to be so cryptic about it?

In an ideal fantasy world:
------------ Arteta ------------ Wilshere -----------
Walcott ---------- Fabregas ---------- Cazorla
--------------------- Suarez -------------------------

Fair enough.

Eduardo was an amazing finisher, that volley against Burnley or whatever

Not sure why but given our manager thinks one less competition entered means we can cope with 9 less players than last year means we need all the help we can get.
Eric Portapotty
YES, what a brilliant motherfucker.

It's my turn to clutch at straws.

We don't though, all of the Newcastle fans seemed to have forgotten that we did most of our Summer business in January.
Realistically we need about 2 maybe 3 first team players to come in.

Pardew said: "We've got Premier League games, a League Cup programme and a FA Cup programme and we can cope with that easily with the squad we have.” We did buy 5 in January but we've let 4 or 5 go in January and the summer (Simpson, Perch, Harper, Ba) so we could use some squad additions, plus 3 strikers if Cisse leaves.
9 was probably an exaggeration - hell, it was - but it is remarkable and a wee bit worrying how static we've been in the transfer market.
