AI Transfer Policy

Does anyone else find that the AI transfer policy seems a bit odd?

I made a bid of 4.7m for Micah Richards (at his value) and they responded by negotiating for 2.7m? He wasn't transfer listed and had been part of their rotation system for most of the season and even if they wanted to get rid of him, why not just accept my higher offer?

Playing as Arsenal I've also received very few transfer offers for any of my players or even interest (not necessarily a bad thing) but when an offer does come in, it's below the player's value. Again, I could understand these low bids if the players were transfer listed, near the end of their contract, not wanted, etc. but these are all valuable members of the first team (both in monetary and ability terms.) They're not massively low bids, but bidding 15m on a 20m to me is both a bit odd and insulting.

Has anyone else experienced this or something similar? I read there were a couple of bugs on the old versions regarding transfer policy but I'm running the latest patch. Maybe the clubs these days just have stricter budgets than I thought...

Could depend on the manager that is making the bid i.e an aggressive person might test the waters with a ridiculously low bid just to see what reaction he gets which would help inform him of the sort of price you would be willing to let a player go for.

Another point you might consider is if teams have already secured signings before approaching you. A mid tier club might only have a budget of £30-40m for transfers which would limit their transfer targets to either one big marquee signing, a couple of solid signings, or lots of little ones. I dunno, just a thought

That's almost definitely reading into it waaaaay too much, but if it helps to overlook some of the in game niggles then feel free to use it

I'm playing my way up through from Skrill to League one (currently) so most of my contracts are 1-2 year deals. I'm outgrowing players rather than the other way around so I can't say its affected me yet, though with promotion to the Championship, that might change. But I am about to load up a new game - maybe Arsenal or Newcastle so I can let you know what I find out there
