Very disappointing match. Poor performance, poor selection, poor tactics.

Yep, City were poor. Paul Scholes had it spot on about the atmosphere too - and that comment was before the match.

Thought Roma did well, especially first half, very impressive at times and the magician Totti a delight to watch yet again (the City fans that booed him off the pitch need to take a look at themselves). All this without De Sanctis, Castan, Astori, DDR and Strootman too.

Don't understand why City didn't put Skorupski under some serious pressure. Can only remember him tipping Lampard's 30 yard shot wide. I could have been in net for Roma tonight!

I think he was going to say it whatever happened to be honest but it wasn't a big surprise.

The atmosphere's rarely great at the Etihad at the best of times, the loudest sections are split up by the away fans and the sound tends not to carry very well across the pitch to other sections. If you add that to a flat performance, ever-increasing prices and a relatively small/poor fan-base, unfortunately atmosphere and attendance is going to suffer.

Frankly the club don't help themselves in that regard, they've been steadily pricing people out for the last couple of years and it doesn't look like they're about to stop any time soon.

Even with the poor defending from that set piece we should have won that game, our finishing was piss poor

Liverpool in a bit of a sticky situation now, Madrid twice next whilst Basel have Ludogorets twice (who are alright but you'd think Basel would get at least 4 points).

The last game of the group v Basel at Anfield is looking a big one already.

Wee bit different though considering Welbeck is a United fan and came through at the club.

Plus Welbeck is much younger, he's got time to grow and become even better.

It has been announced that starting next year the winners of the top 7 leagues in Europe aswell as the holders of the champions league will all be in pot 1 for the group stages.

Should have happened years ago.

What happens if a team wins their league and the CL? Will the CL runners up get the extra pot 1 spot?

Yeah think thats a good incentive for Europa league. That too, should have happened years ago. They won't be in pot 1 thought I wouldn't think.

Good question about if the winners win their league aswell, not sure what they'd do.
