Aye. He's failed at his last 5 jobs.

Why do one of the richest clubs on the continent put up with absolute dregs?

I can't imagine the uproar if they gave it to Carver. Why are they even interviewing him?

I'm not particularly advocating for McClaren, I was asking because I'm not convinced Vieira is ready to manage a Premier League team yet. He's done alright at City but while the EDS have been pretty good, they've made a habit of letting leads slip and he seems incapable of properly organising a defence.

I'd prefer Laudrup or Garde tbh.

But Vieira is more exciting than McClaren - who was awful at Forest, average at Derby, awful at Wolfsburg, awful at Twente when he went back and awful at England.

Face to face is the only acceptable way of doing that, regardless of where they are in the world.

Agreed. Watching Hard Knocks NFL and seeing them do it face to face shows how it should be done. On another note how do you still have Obertan

Fair enough. That I can understand.

The worrying conclusion is that the team is going to be restructured around him.

I know the main thing that needs to get sorted at the moment is the manager/head coach (of the rumoured ones I prefer Remi Garde and Michael Laudrup), but have there been any rumoured transfers?

The sad thing is Gutierrez wasn't good enough to be retained - but he was probably our best winger.

People like Obertan, Ameobi etc have no business playing in the Premier League

Less I would prefer him, more that I see West Ham aiming big for people like Benitez, Klopp, de Boer, Bilic, etc, and we're going for a discard from the Championship. Although saying that, Pardew was a discard from a then-League One Southampton, so it seems to be their style.

Haha. Imagine you're busy doing you're coaching badges and you see John Carver strolling towards you, informs you of some information that you basically already knew, then leaves. What a spectacular waste of time, money and would potentially cause massive embarrassment.

The far bigger 'scandal' here is that the're getting John Carver to do it. It's not his job - even if he was the appointed as permanent manager, it's the job of the 'football board', not the head coach.

I'm resigned to McClaren now though. Hope we get lots of shots of Carver glaring at McClaren though.

Also regarding West Ham. Wait until after they've actually made their appointment before moaning. Targeting Klopp etc. means nothing unless they acually appoint them.

Aye, can't see West Ham getting a name like that at all. Bilic yeah but Benitez, Klopp etc are out of their league and De Boer should be aiming higher too.

They should be met by a member of the board at the club with the head coach there too. It's the professional way to do it.

Can't wait until next year when players are released via Skype at an Internet cafe so we don't have to pay for phone calls.

Can't see us ever finishing higher than 9th/10th while Ashley and Charnley are here.

Seems that Shteve McLaren is due to be named Newcastle manager. I don't have too much problem with him, even with his Smoggy past, I think he's a decent coach. But I don't think he's the man to turn the club around. If he could bring players through from youth like he did at Middlesbrough with Downing, Cattermole et al that would be a step in the right direction, though he had the structure to do that at Boro.

Reading that we're getting money to improve 2 positions in the squad.

2?

We need 6 first team players.

Six? We need more than that.

Two is an insult.

That'll be with backup players too though, we need 6 ready to start in the first team.

Then backup wingers, backup full backs etc.

Might as well wait and see.

I mean they allegedly want a forward, a CB and Ayew. So there is 3 'starters' already.

Seen Newcastle offered Matip for £10m. Fairly sure he's not very good.

That's half of what we need though, which isn't enough.

If they just strengthened every window there wouldn't be a need for overhauls every 2-3 years.

Ayew is off to Roma, isn't he?

Can anyone realistically see us signing these 6 first team players and appointing a manager before our tour of the USA in 5 weeks?

I'm still thinking we need more than 6 as we definitely won't sign 6 first team ready players.

Telegraph are claiming John Carver will be fired today. Stone as well.

Interesting if they have pursued such a nuclear option. Whether or not it happens...

Aye, confirmed now.

Great news - makes the managerial appointment seem a bit better now knowing he's bringing his own staff in.

Be extremely disappointed if we loan Bamford and Van Ginkel as two of our major 6 signings though. Loaning players isn't good enough. Unless theres a fee in the loan to buy, of course.

But was he sacked face to face, or in a suitably manly fashion?

Anyway a doorman got shot in Newcastle at the weekend, the Chronicle interview the #AshleyOut rabble in response. Yeah its not all about getting their name in the papers.

I think he was sacked in the proper way, he was in a meeting at the club.

Unsure why they couldn't extend the same professional courtesy to one of our most long serving players, but they will to the worst manager this club will ever have.
