It just seems like teams trying to sign a player so another team in the same league doesn't get him, and im including us in that statement. None of the teams going for him actually need a AM

We do, he's the creative player we're looking to fill Modric hole.

Tbf Spurs don't really have an out and out second striker/amc like Willian is.

Bit harsh, they've signed Yaya Sanogo as well.

Even with Sanogo and Flamini as our only signings as of now, our squad is still far better than yours. It'll be even stronger if we buy one or two quality players on top of that.

No, it isn't.

PSG apparently pull out of Cabaye negotiations.

Gut feeling right now, is Cabaye to stay and Newcastle to not sign anybody. Maybe one signing - Gomis if most of the work is already done.

Willian to Chelsea have no fucking sense.

Well, Chelsea were in for him before he moved to Russia. That said, don't see where he fits currently, or why pay £30m + for him.

The only sense it makes would be if Moses is sold, which there has been some talk he could be offloaded.

ESPN saying we want Mata 'according to sources at both clubs'.

Right.

Ain't gonna happen.

I can imagine the backlash from fans if Mata was sold for any price, let alone to United.

Even in the case of Moses leaving, Chelsea have enough quality in that position.

Maybe so, but it does give a reason to go and get Willian nonetheless.

Only other way I see it working is if Chelsea opt to use him as a second striker, instead of signing Rooney. But that doesn't really seem like a smart deal to make either.

As Platy said before, Chelsea require a striker and defensive mid before any other player.

I still think he'll join Spurs.

Not even remotely similar. Would be like replacing Wilshere with Walcott.

Don't you have to keep hold of Moses because you struggle to meet home grown quotas as it is?

I imagine we have enquired about Mata, probably along the lines of 'You can have Rooney if we can have Mata' type thing, and the Willian link has set off a chain of rumours about an impending bid.

If we do want him regardless of that there's nothing to fear from Woodward's impending £12m bid.

I don't believe so. I imagine a squad number could simply be given to one of the eligible reserve players, though I could be wrong.

I see the whole Mata thing as nothing but a little cheeky attempt to cause some unrest due to the whole Rooney thing. Realistically, United would need to fork out a minimum of £40m+ for any sort of realistic chance of signing him. Can't see that happening.

Obviously, yeah well he's creating chances, he can dribble, he can pass so that's what we need right now.

I could, we bid around that for Fabregas.

Not getting my hopes up though.

He's more of an inside forward, Modric plays much deeper.

That would be basement price though, I'd imagine it would take somewhere between that £50-70m in this current market to prize him away.

Why write £40M then?

£70M, yeah right. Just because Bale is massively overpriced doesn't mean everyone else should be.

Won't happen anyway.

I said £40m as a minimum, which would start things off. It would definitely take more than that for him to actually move though.

£70m was just a max price. Given the current market, his age, years remaining on contact, United being a direct rival and his performances since joining, it's not an entirely unrealistic figure.
