A good team to play as, though I'd highly recommend that within the first few years, you focus on developing players who either come through your intake or those you can acquire, so you can turn them into HGN or HGC. This is because attracting players to your club in the early game can be quite challenging.
An intresting team to manage on FM24, would recommend if your looking for a challange especially when it's hard to sign decent players. I found that it was better to develop form within and raise players up to be able to get Viking going in game.
Newcastle United are one of the most famous clubs in English football, boasting a history which dates back to 1892.
The Magpies have won four league titles and six FA Cups, although you have to go back to 1955 to find the most recent of those successes.
Fans have had a roller-coaster ride since then, but the Saudi Arabian-led takeover in October 2021 sparked hope of a much brighter future.
Biggest Rivals
Sunderland. Currently languishing in the Championship, the only way the two local rivals can meet in the first season on FM24 is in the domestic cups.
Related Clubs
Newcastle want to replicate Manchester City’s multi-club model and have been in talks with teams in Belgium, Portugal, Saudi Arabia and Brazil.
Short-Term Goals
After finishing fourth in the Premier League in 2022/23, Newcastle will feature in the Champions League. Retaining their top four place, progressing to the last-16 in Europe and winning a domestic cup are realistic aims.
Long-Term Challenge
The club’s Saudi owners have made no secret of their desire to establish Newcastle as one of the most successful clubs in European football.
However, Profit and Sustainability rules make it difficult to keep pace with clubs such as Manchester City, who have a significant head start on the Magpies.
Developing local and international prospects in the club’s academy will play a crucial role in ensuring Newcastle can fulfil their long-term aims.
Current Squad
Newcastle are currently set up for a 4-3-3 formation. Their transfer business in 2023 filled several holes in the squad, but improvements could be made.
A young centre-back would be a useful acquisition, while an attacking player to compete with Miguel Almiron would also be welcome.
Selling Sean Longstaff should be a priority as he is nowhere near good enough to be a regular starter in a team which harbours ambitions of winning silverware.
Elliot Anderson should be given plenty of opportunities to shine as he is one of the most promising young players at the club.
Possible Transfer Targets
Armel Bella-Kotchap (Southampton - CB) – He could be a useful option on loan, particularly if you
can negotiate an option to buy in the deal.
Lloyd Kelly (Bournemouth – CB) – Kelly has become a reliable performer in the Premier League.
Bournemouth may sell him as he has just one year left on his contract.
Amad Diallo (Manchester United - AM RLC) – If you can forgive him for his successful loan spell at
Sunderland in 2022/23, Diallo could be a useful back-up to Almiron.
Adam Wharton (Blackburn Rovers - DM, MC) – Wharton would be the ideal replacement for
Longstaff. He is far better on the ball and a superb long-term prospect.

Founded in 1902, Real Madrid have subsequently evolved into one of the biggest and most successful football clubs in the world.
Their tally of 36 La Liga titles is nine more than bitter rivals Barcelona, while their record haul of 15 Champions League successes is eight ahead of AC Milan.
While their tradition of success makes them an appealing prospect for Football Manager players, the job is undoubtedly a tricky one to take at the start of the game.
Biggest Rivals
Barcelona are Madrid’s fiercest rivals. They also have a local rivalry with Atletico Madrid, but this overshadowed by El Clasico.
Related Clubs
Madrid have a link-up with Gimnastic Manresa but former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique’s takeover of the club will likely end this agreement.
Short-Term Goals
Madrid head into each season with the aim of winning every competition they enter. The short-term goal will be to ensure they are in contention to achieve this as the campaign progresses.
Long-Term Challenge
The Madrid board expects success and for it to be achieved playing an exciting brand of football. In simple terms, failure is not an option at the Bernabeu Stadium.
Winning anything less than a couple of major trophies each season will likely result in the club dispensing with your services in FM24.
Current Squad
As befits a club of Madrid’s global standing, there are very few areas which need addressing in their current squad.
Long-term decisions will need to be made on some of their older midfielders, but those can be taken once you have got your feet under the table.
Given the club’s reputation, you are unlikely to have any issues attracting the players you want to sign when it comes to tweaking the squad.
Possible Transfer Targets
Leny Yoro (Lille – DC) – The teenager is one of the most highly rated defensive prospects in Europe
and would be a superb signing.
Assan Ouedraogo (Schalke - MC, AMC) – Ouedraogo is a talented young midfielder who could be
moulded into a world beater at Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain – ST) – Mbappe has made no secret of his desire to sign for
Madrid. His contract expires in June 2024.

Liverpool are one of the most successful clubs in the world, with their history littered with title-winning triumphs at home and abroad.
They have been crowned champions of England 19 times, which places them one behind bitter rivals Manchester United in the all-time standings.
However, Liverpool have not hit the same heights they achieved in the 1970s and 1980s, with the club winning the Premier League title just once.
Biggest Rivals
Although Everton are Liverpool’s local rivals, their fiercest rivalry is with Man United. The bitterness is rooted in cultural divides between their respective cities.
Related Clubs
Liverpool previously had a formal link-up with Belgian club Genk, but do not appear to have established any other partnership agreements.
Short-Term Goals
Liverpool finished fifth in 2022/23, so guiding them back into the top four is the minimum short-term aim in FM24. Winning the Europa League and at least one of the domestic cups are other achievable goals.
Long-Term Challenge
Liverpool were hugely successful at home and abroad during the 1970s and 1980s, but the landscape changed when the Premier League was launched in 1992.
The Reds won some silverware including the Champions League (2004/05), but they were unable to get their hands on the Premier League trophy.
Although they ended their title drought under Jurgen Klopp in 2019/20, Liverpool are still not the consistent winning-machine of old.
With that in mind, delivering consistent success in the Premier League and Champions League is the ultimate long-term challenge with Liverpool in FM24.
Current Squad
While Liverpool’s squad is relatively strong in FM24, there are undoubtedly areas which need attention if the club is to achieve its targets.
A suitable long-term replacement for centre-back Virgil van Dijk is a priority along with greater depth in the full-back positions.
At least one creative midfielder to dictate the tempo in the centre of the park should also be prioritised. These do not necessarily have to be immediate starters.
Clearing out some of the deadwood in the squad is another important task given that Liverpool have several underachieving high-earners.
Possible Transfer Targets
Ferdi Kadıoglu (Fenerbahce - DR, DL, WBR, WBL) – The Turkish international would be a useful
acquisition to strengthen the full-back areas.
Antonio Silva (Benfica – DC) – Silva will likely cost more than £40 million but would be an excellent
long-term replacement for Van Dijk.
Adam Wharton (Blackburn Rovers - DM, MC) – Wharton can be developed into a world-class
performer. He would add quality to Liverpool’s midfield options.
Assan Ouedraogo (Schalke - AM LC) – Ouedraogo is a promising attacking player who would not
break the bank but could become a future star.

Having won just one league title during the 20th century, it would be fair to say that Chelsea underachieved massively in English football.
However, Roman Abramovich’s takeover in 2003 transformed the Blues, helping them become hugely successful at home and abroad.
His exit in 2022 has ultimately proved to be bad news for Chelsea, with new owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital failing to build on the Russian’s legacy.
Biggest Rivals
Chelsea have rivalries with several London clubs including West Ham United, Fulham, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. They also have a historic rivalry with Leeds United.
Related Clubs
Chelsea are in the process of building a network of linked clubs. They have already forged ties with Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands and Strasbourg in France.
Short-Term Goals
The Blues finished 12th in the Premier League in 2022/23, so guiding them back into the top four will be the minimum requirement in FM24.
It is worth noting that the owners may have loftier ambitions than this, which could make the first season rather tricky to navigate.
Long-Term Challenge
Chelsea’s new owners have thrown money around like confetti since arriving at the club and they expect this will help them dominate the football world.
Repeated success in the Premier League and Champions League are long-term goals for the Blues coupled with achieving this with an eye-catching style of play.
Developing players will be crucial to your hopes of delivering success as Profit and Sustainability Rules will make it difficult to keep splashing the cash.
Current Squad
The Chelsea squad is fairly bloated, so trimming down the numbers must be the first port of call before considering any further incomings in FM24.
Thiago Silva could be sacrificed given his age, while Ben Chilwell is an option to be sold if any Saudi Pro League clubs offer silly money for him.
Additions to the squad should include a ball-playing midfielder, a creative forward and a striker capable of challenging for a starting berth.
A 4-2-3-1 formation will likely be the favoured tactical set-up, but it will need to be tweaked dependent on the players available and the opposition.
Possible Transfer Targets
Ferdi Kadıoglu (Fenerbahce - DR, DL, WBR, WBL) – If Chilwell is sold, Kadıoglu is a cost-effective
option who offers more versatility.
Adam Wharton (Blackburn Rovers - DM, MC) – Chelsea are stacked with midfielders, but do not have
anyone who matches what Wharton brings to the table long-term.
Paolo Dybala (Roma - AMC, ST) – While Dybala does not fit the age profile of signings Chelsea want
to target, he would be a useful short-term option to boost the attacking ranks.
Karim Konate (RB Salzburg – ST) – Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba established himself as a Chelsea
legend. His compatriot Konate has the potential to follow in his footsteps.

Founded in 1886 as a munition workers' team from Woolwich, Arsenal have since become one of the biggest and most successful clubs in English football.
The Gunners have been crowned league champions 13 times, placing them third on the all-time list behind Manchester United (20) and Liverpool (19).
However, the Premier League title has eluded them in recent years, with their success in 2003/04the last time they lifted the prestigious trophy.
Biggest Rivals
Arsenal’s main rivals are Tottenham Hotspur, with just four miles separating their two stadiums in north London.
Related Clubs
Arsenal have established formal links with three clubs - ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast), Colorado Rapids (United States) and Inverness Caledonian Thistle (Scotland).
Short-Term Goals
Having finished runners-up behind Manchester City in 2022/23, Arsenal’s primary short-term aim in FM24 is overhauling the reigning champions.
Making progress in the Champions League and winning one of the domestic cups would also help to crown a successful first season with the Gunners.
Long-Term Challenge
Arsenal enjoyed a sustained period of success under Arsene Wenger, winning the Premier League three times and the FA Cup on seven occasions.
Domestic success each season is the long-term goal for the club along with becoming a dominant force in the Champions League.
Current Squad
While Arsenal have a relatively strong squad in FM24, there are some areas which need improvement if the club is to win the title.
Signing a top-class left-back and playmaking midfielder would be a good place to start and should be achievable during the first transfer window.
The Gunners also need a prolific goalscorer, although the right training regime could bring out the best in Brazilian star Gabriel Jesus.
Possible Transfer Targets
Ferdi Kadıoglu (Fenerbahce - DR, DL, WBR, WBL) – Kadioglu would be a value-for-money option who would offer more tactical flexibility to Arsenal.
Adam Wharton (Blackburn Rovers - DM, MC) – Despite splashing the cash on Declan Rice, the Gunners need a midfielder who can dictate the tempo. Wharton fits the bill.
Roony Bardghji (FC Copenhagen – AMR) – The Danish club will drive a hard bargain for the teenager, but he is well worth pursuing given his talent.
Marcos Leonardo (Benfica – AML, ST) – The Brazilian forward is a little rough around the edges but could be moulded into a standout performer for Arsenal.

Founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, Manchester United have subsequently become one of the successful clubs in the world.
The Red Devils have been crowned champions of England 20 times, putting them one ahead of Liverpool in the all-time standings.
However, Man United have found success a little harder to come by since legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
Biggest Rivals
While Manchester City are United’s local rivals, their fiercest rivalry is with Liverpool. There is no love lost between the two cities, both culturally and from a sporting perspective.
Related Clubs
Manchester United have established official partnerships with several clubs worldwide including Royal Antwerp in Belgium and Twente Enschede in the Netherlands.
Short-Term Goals
Having finished third in the Premier League in 2022/23, United will hope to force their way into title contention in the first season on FM24.
Progressing to the Champions League knockout stage and winning at least one of the domestic cups are other realistic short-term goals for 2023/24.
Long-Term Challenge
United were widely regarded as one of the top clubs in the world under Ferguson. Restoring them to their former glories is the primary long-term aim.
Developing local and international prospects in the club’s academy will play a crucial role in ensuring the club can live up those lofty aspirations.
Current Squad
Although United have a strong squad on paper, there are several areas which need addressing if the club is to regularly challenge for major silverware.
The defence is a major area of concern and will need upgrading significantly during the first two or three transfer windows on FM24.
A top-quality midfielder who can control the tempo of games is also a priority along with a versatile forward who can compete with Rasmus Hojlund.
United have plenty of deadwood in their squad who will need moving on, but it may take more than one transfer window to complete the task.
Possible Transfer Targets
Jean-Clair Todibo (Nice – CB) – The France international will likely cost around £45 million in FM24 and would be a useful long-term replacement for Varane.
Ferdi Kadıoglu (Fenerbahce - DR, DL, WBR, WBL) – Kadioglu’s versatility makes him an intriguing proposition on FM24.
Adam Wharton (Blackburn Rovers - DM, MC) - Wharton would be the ideal option for central midfield. He bears plenty of similarities to former United star Michael Carrick.
Karim Konate (RB Salzburg – ST) – Salzburg have developed several promising strikers in recent years
and Konate is the latest one off the production line. He could be a useful acquisition for United.

What can be said about Tobias?
134gls in 169 games - straight away was loving my tactic and smashing them in. First season with Sparta 39gls in 37 games. Second season 38gls in 41 games. At this point im thinking this guy is a legend and he kept performing for another three seasons. Eventually I was looking for a replacement and Lucca came up for a low fee. Really surprised me how good he was. Im still not sure how he did so well.

Got him in a structured deal worth about 18m in first transfer window as Southampton.
Scouts rate him as 3 star with 4.5 star potential. After a good start coaches rate him 4 star with 5 star potential.
Immediate impact with goals and assists and high average rating (7.33).
Plays effectively on either wing as inside forward. Although he has a low crossing score also played well as a Inverted winger crossing with his weaker foot on the left. He doesn't quite have the aggression/concentration needed to be a top pressing forward but he is doing the job well. 6 games into the season 100% wins including having beaten our 2 main rivals with Gnonto performing well whether starting or off the bench. In contrast Patson Daka has failed to register a goal or rating above 6.7 when rotated in for him.
