With any luck Man City will go back to their usual pattern for Tuesday night.

To be fair, I guess it was easy pre-match to read the teamsheet think "WTF is this?". But it sounds like the selection worked enough to get the points over the line, and at least we got Sissoko playing like a professional footballer for once. So can't say fairer than that.

I think you might disappointed on Shelvey though - he'll start at least 2 more games before the end of the season.

Also noted a return to four four fucking three, - 4-2-3-1 just doesn't work at Newcastle. And I'm not sure it does for most clubs. - 4-3-3 is so simple - Tiote congests the space in front of the centre backs - Coback and Sissoko allowed to press higher and hassle higher up the pitch - a return to when we were winning games before Pardew left.

Also Towsensd is incredible - Montero v Anita was a mismatch - but he offered so much help and protection to stop Montero getting the one on one. Fantastic by Townsend.

Norwich getting hammered does give Newcastle hope.

A teamsheet today with Anita at right-back, a Tiote/Colback deep-lying midfield, Sissoko captain and Cisse over both Mitrovic & Perez (even if both were crap at Southampton last week), by contrast... less so.

Benitez got his tactics spot on today - Tiote was very good - Colback was excellent back in his best position - Wijnaldum and Sissoko were much improved - and thankfully Shelveywas fucked off.

Luckily survived Shelvey coming on and being absolutely shite. - hopefully he'll get a tree match ban.

Pardew left before Ben Arfa.

Who let's not forget helped Newcastle stay up last year - by helping relegate Hull. I don't get how anyone can want Ben Arfa back - I'm sick of watching cunts who clearly don't want to be here. I love Ben Arfa but I much prefer him to our current cunts - but anyone too hungover to play football can fuck right off.

I'm sure Benitez will make the toughest choice of them all. An unchanged team. The Rafa special.

How can you compare Pardew to Sanchez Flores and Howe?

Palace finished 10th in the Premier League last season - Watford and Bournemouth were playing a division below. Different expectations as a result of this and so QSF and Howe have performed much better than Pardew this season. Simple as that.

Anyway, delighted for Leicester

Because their squad quality is similar? It literally doesn't matter in the slightest what division they were playing in last year. (Bournemouths maybe a bit worse overall especially with injuries.)

Overachievment should never be used against a manager - it's absurd logic. If Bournemouth have a great end to the season - and finish 10th this year - they should be applauded for an excellent season - if they finish 16th next year - they're still punching above their weight - Howe won't have become a bad manager.

Pardew gets so much stick for having a good season with Palace. - Comfortably surviving two years running with a poor side after spending a relatively small amount of money and now with a trip to Wembley?

Like I've seen no one have a go at Sanchez Flores for having essentially the exact same season. (One point more than Palace - and spent more money) - No criticism for 'next England manager' Eddie Howe for also spending more money and no trip to Wembley (4 extra points, 1 extra game played)

Pardew 26 points from 19 games - 52 points per season
Carver 13 points from 19 games - 26 Points per season
McClaren 24 points from 28 games - 33 Points per season
Benitez - 1 point from 4 games - 10 points per season.

For comparison Pardew is set for a 45 point season this year - and with Palace took 32 points from 19 games - set for a 64 point season last year with Palace

Watching the absolute state of Shelvey for the first two goals. Beyond pathetic.

Find the cunt so infuriating - he just watched opponents drift past him - and doesn't do anything about it - before shouting at teammates.

Fucking hell - he was to blame for the third as well - left his man again.

Lascelles was the chosen player to go before the media and said a lot of the squad lack heart, desire & hunger, and that's pretty bang on - in the first half, nobody looked like they gave a shit. Steven Taylor and Janmaat were horrific, nobody in midfield did anything of use and Mitrovic might as well have not bothered given nobody knew where he was. Top marks to Ayoze for being put off a promising dribble by running into and then over Koeman. That was an achievement.

Pardew was seen as underachieving in 2013/14 because of 5 wins in 20, or whatever it was, and it was a fair point that we had switched off badly. But that was relative to then. This is underachievement on a whole other level.

To be fair, I suppose there's a contextual point in that Derby went from 20th in the Championship in 2006 to promotion and kept more or less that squad... was never going to end well in hindsight, even with Sam Allardyce's generosity. But on a points basis, yes - Villa aren't the worst (3rd at present).

Mr. Humble himself - said that he was struggling to motivate the squad. (Remy, Sissoko and Debuchy were shameless back then) - that should have set off warning signs.

Really like Lascelles - Newcastle should rebuild around players like him next year.

Also really liked Shelvey's interview - true captain material that lad.

Remember when Shola said we'd finish 8th

I said we should be targeting 8th. If you spend over £100m you should be doing. - We've spent more than Stoke. West Ham and Southampton combined - its not hard - remember when Pardew was seen to be underachieving for only finishing 8th?

And I agree my opinions are terrible. Shelvey and Wijnaldum have proven themselves to be exceptional purchases who have fired us out of trouble. It's amazing how everything the megafans want they have been given - and it's made us worse every time.

Shelvey was immense for us in the Championship tbf.

That was Charlie Adams

Typical NUFC to barely spend any money for 4 years, then spend tens of millions all at once on a wide variety of internationally capped players, and bring in an extremely high calibre manager, and we end up staring down the barrel of a gun in the one year Premier League relegation is financially ill-advised.

If Charnley and Carr stay it might well be time to plan for League One. But can imagine next year we'll be like Fulham or Blackburn even with them gone - masses of player transactions, no gelling process, end up stuck going nowhere in the middle or worse.

It's happened the last two times we showed #Ambition. - Souness and the Fat Controller spending £50m to secure us as midtable dross for the forseeable future, and Allardyce spending £50m on terrible players to put us on an inevitable path to relegation.
