Why is pumping balls to Navas's head now our only attacking option?

I think that might have been our worst performance since Spurs away in Mancini's last season. What do you reckon?

This has been awful.

For all the slaggings it gets, opposition fans sure do love doing the 'Poznan'

We haven't done it consistently for 2/3 years but it's still popular.

Nice to benefit from one of Atwell's fuck-ups for a change.

It is. I think that's one of the reasons Pellegrini named a strong side, we've been so mediocre recently I suspect he was hoping this match would give a few players a boost going into the derby. Doesn't look like it's going to work though.

Look's like Aguero could be coming on to get injured soon.

Entirely likely. Kolarov is injured now.

Fucking stupid decision to play Silva

It's certainly looking that way. Tonight has been fairly terrible so far.

And Newcastle are 1-0 up. Not a great moment for Caballero.

Edit: Now Silva is off injured.

Top defending from Ryan Taylor to blatantly haul down Silva right on the edge of the area.

If Newcastle can get at the two center backs they'll have a chance, really not been impressed with Mangala and at this moment in time have absolutely no idea why City paid so much for him.

He's really not been that bad. As for the fee, probably because the club see him as a player for the majority of the next decade rather than just the next couple of seasons.

Awesome, there's a small list.

Paolo Goltz from Club América in Mexico, then Agustín Marchesín, Nicolas Pasquini, Diego González, Victor Ayala and Silvio Romero from Lanús in Argentina.

Appreciate the help.

I don't have the beta (and probably won't for a while yet) but there's a few players who I'd like to have a look at, can I trouble anyone who does have it for a few screenshots?

Absolutely disgusting 2nd half performance

Seconded.

Good in the first-half, two poor penalty decisions but the problem's still in our performance.

I'm not trying to say that we were bad, more like how we have a lack of quality and constant poor team selections.

In the summer everybody except Pochettino and Levy could see we desperatly needed a striker. So what did they do? Buy a goalie, 3 defenders and a defensive midfielder. Our transfer business rarely makes much sense to me.

Fair enough, that I'm more in agreement with. Spurs never do seem to play to the sum of their parts.

So despite Citys dodgy passing, terrible defending, Spurs not being 4-1 bad and Aguero not having a brilliant match, they still beat us 4-1 with Aguero getting all 4 goals. That is why I am disappointed. I'm not saying I expected to ever get anything from the game, but the fact that we couldn't take advantage of City not being at their best is further proof that we really need a decent striker, probably a winger and a good defender to partner Vertonghen. Still at least we only conceded 4 this time, thats an improvement I suppose.

You're overstating how bad Tottenham were. A better striker and a better defender than Kaboul and it would have been far, far closer.

Yeah, it's hard to argue with that too much. Some moments of great quality but so many stupid, avoidable mistakes (from both sides) and that's something City seem to be doing a lot this season. We don't look anywhere near as cohesive a unit as we did last season.

Yeah, he took his goals good but could have had more. But a good sign for you that you didnt play great and still won 4-1

That's true to an extent but if that keeps happening then you have to start looking at the process rather than the result, and work out what isn't working. I don't think there's a straight-forward answer to that for City.

Yeah, I thought the scoreline flattered City. Okay maybe not flattered cause they played well, but looks harsh on Spurs, they weren't 4-1 bad.

Can see us messing up today

I was there and I'd agree with flattered. We weren't bad but at no point did we control the match, our passing was pretty dodgy and our defending was terrible.

Even Aguero didn't have a brilliant match, ridiculous as that will sound, he scored 4 and could have scored at least 6 or 7, if he hadn't insisted on trying to score the perfect goal so often.

Pochettino is basically AVB all over again. Still don't understand why Vertonghen and Dembele are usually on the bench, makes no sense at all.

Thought you were alright yesterday to be honest.

Why were they playing in China?

I can sort of understand when they play in Europe as the players are based here (even though its really a bit unfair on people in the countries) but there seems no logic to it being in China.

Commercial reasons probably.

Pretty dire game in the end. Argentina started pretty well but got more and more sloppy and disinterested as time went on.

No idea how Federico Fernández is still starting for Argentina either. He was terrible again.

No, he's a bit of a cunt.

He has an incredibly punchable face.

Good stuff. We're on the same page.

I thought everyone hated Miles.

See, that's what I thought - I remember him being widely derided for SI's pathetic efforts of engaging with the scene years back - but I've been doubting it recently. Good to know it's not just me though. He seems like a right smarmy cunt.

Could it be that the PL is just a lot more physical, faster and doesnt have a winter break?

I'm sure that plays a part but it seems pretty unlikely (to me at least) that it's just down to that.

Its one of the biggest hopes I have for Van Gaal and consequently one of the biggest worries I had with Moyes. Moyes was a notoriously hard trainer and given the already shaky injury records of a few of our defensive players (noticeably Smalling, Evans, Jones) it was already going to cause problems. I think Fergie's methods by the end were quite old fashioned too.

Saying that, Shaw's injury at the start of the season was reminiscent of RVP's 'overtraining' one last summer, but otherwise Van Gaal's injury records very good. Fixed Robben iirc.

I can't imagine you're that happy with the injury situation at United so far then? It's hardly been encouraging.
