When I try to join a new network game on my laptop, it comes up with the message:
"A network connection is required in order to play football manager online. Please ensure that you are connected to the internet and steam is online before continuing."
I am online and have a strong internet connection. However, when you go to my steam profile, it says my status is 'online' in blue but not 'in-game playing football manager' in green, if that's of any relevance.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Up here, he's not so much seen like that. I honestly think he's a poor manager. By no means the worst, but quite poor. He'd get find out in England with an inability to make good tactical decisions (much like Super Ally!).

I'm going to be competing with a friend on a network game. He is Cardiff, I am Hull. What tactic should I use? I prefer a defensive approach but with Hull's exciting wingbacks I reckon a counter-attacking tactic would be best. The thing is, my tactic-creating skills need a bit of work.

I am going to be buying a macbook in the coming days, and of course, it's capability to play FM is of upmost importance.
I was wondering if any issues may arise when I download steam and attempt to download FM14? Currently, I am on windows playing on a downloaded version of the game. Will I be able to simply download steam, sign into my account, download the game and play? Will I need to buy a mac version, or something like that?

I was searching up new FM websites to come across and saw your story on the site - I saw you were Rangers so had to have a read! I'm a big fan, having been a season ticket holder for the past three years.
You've done fantastic, especially winning the UCL a few seasons back. I managed to do it on 13 and found it near-impossible to replicate thereafter.
How financially secure are Celtic? And do they have a squad capable of challenging you in the near future? Do you think you can turn Rangers into a club of high calibre players like the Madrids of IRL?

My philosophy is to get men behind the ball and primarily be solid defensively and hit on the counter; I play this home and away and currently sit a point clear at the top of the league. However, my record against the top 5 is poor. Beaten 3-0 off Man Utd, 2-1 off Man City, 0-0 with Newcastle (2nd place), beaten 3-0 by Dortmund then 0-0, 1-1 with Marseille, 0-0 with FC Kobenhavn; we just can't perform in the big games (all away from home apart from Newcastle game and Dortmund 0-0).
I'm looking for some help.
I set out "Fluid" and "Counter" then go "Defensive" if we score. I play 4-2-3-1 with two DMs and two wingers.
Czech (goalkeeper defend), Azpilicueta and Cole (fullback automatic), Luiz and Terry (cover and stopper), Matic and Ramires (anchorman and defensive midfielder support), Hazard on the left (inside forward support), Oscar (attacking midfielder support), Willian on the right (advanced playmaker or defensive winger support), and Mandzukic up top as (defensive forward support).
Instructions: more direct passing, work ball into box, look for overlap, drop much deeper, much higher tempo, more disciplined, tighter marking, stay on feet, hassle opponents, play narrower, run at defence.
Even at home, where I am unbeaten, my 3 attacking midfielders have been largely ineffective. Oscar has 2 PL goals, Willian has 2 PL goals, Hazard has one and 7 assists. Mandzukic has 10 PL goals and I reckon 7 or 8 have been headers, mainly via set pieces.
Any help is appreciated, I have SLB in the first knockout round and need to get the defensive tactic right for the away leg. Additionally, if I beat Utd it's a big step towards the title.
