I'd say he would've been loaned out by City or Chelsea to somewhere "foreign" or else he'd be rotated sparsely, or he could've been straight into the squad, who knows. Can't you see his argument that he doesn't want to play for a club who has those type of problems? He wants what's best for him, to play in his natural position, not be run into the ground and be successful, right now he's being 'forced' to play elsewhere, being 'forced' to play every game etc, so maybe Liverpool isn't the club for him.

Sterling was good the year before, but don't pin it all on him. Also other than him having a holiday in the middle of the season, he's also been rested numerous times. He's a footballer ffs don't give him a cheap excuse to blame his poor performances.

Okay cool, I'll agree with that then. Even though it's a bit stupid for me but yeah.

I'm not pinning it all on him at all, but if you're blaming up for not performing when the team is shit, why can't I praise him for performing when the team was exceptional? He's a young footballer, they need to be treated properly. Just look at how Wenger treated Walcott and Ox for example, he didn't have them playing 50 games in a row with no break, he eased them into it and protected them. Also, playing him as a wing back and expecting him to be brilliant is stupid, it's not a "cheap excuse".

I don't see how it's stupid, if I was him I'd rather be a solid part of a winning team than a big fish in a small pond type situation (still a big enough pond, but you see the point).

The same shit team almost won the league last year, no I don't expect him to drag us 'by the scruff of the neck', but playing decent would be a start.

And so basically every team that isn't Barcelona, Madrid or Bayern Munich are a stepping stone in some form then.

The same shit team who almost won the league while Sterling was playing out of his skin. He's absolutely knackered and being played in random positions the entire time. Maybe he'd rather be part of a winning team than a guy who's expected to do everything and have everything relying on him.

Well yeah, but some a higher up the ladder. Chelsea, Utd, City and possibly Arsenal are a step up from Liverpool in the PL.

Except, saying that is completely different You're just using players we signed to try prove a point The similar thing about Sterling and say Sinclair, is Sinclair, went there as a youngster (23 I think he was but still in early part of his career) and was never given a chance. The likes of Sahin etc were given a chance, they just never really fitted into the team / weren't good enough. For Sinclair completely killed his career and now he can barely get into a Villa team. As for starting over Navas, I'm not even going to pretend I watch Navas enough, but I don't think it would be such a sure thing.

He'd definitely start over Navas or at least rotate. Maybe even on opposite wings. Sinclair was never good enough for City though, like Aspas was never good enough for Liverpool, so using them to prove a point is, as you say, "completely different". Also, we sent Sincalir on loan to West Brom and they wouldn't even play him ffs, that's saying something.

As for trophies etc, if that's the case, where the fuck was he against Chelsea in the league cup? Or Villa? Or any of the European games tbf. As for being in Europe, yeah I guess he'll get his 6 games in the group stages each year.

So essentially, what you're saying is: If he wants to win trophies he has to basically drag his shit team by the scruff of the neck and win them himself. You can't see why he'd want to go to a club why that isn't the case?

Are you comparing us to Southampton? Also no, we have a choice, but no, we don't have to sell.

Yes, basically you're a step "higher" than Southampton, but still a stepping stone.

Actually going on from it, a stepping stone club is someone where a player only really joins to move onto a bigger club in the future. Which one of our players has done that? Suarez? Again we didn't have to sell him, was a choice (whether a bad one or not that's another thing) after the bad publicity he brought to the club. No idea where you're getting the stepping club tag from, as I don't remember any players that signed here with the aim to leave another club down the line. Maybe Torrres? But that was a weird transfer

Suarez, Torres, Mascherano, Alonso, Arbeloa arguably.

Note: Looking through your transfers over the past few years to make that "list", you guys have made some woeful transfers I know City have been pretty bad but Jesus Christ, the end of Benetiz- start of Hodgson/Daglish signings were just mad

It's a vary similar situation actually, no matter how much better Sterling is. Fucking ran him into the grand, he's a football player ffs, wanting 100k a week, let's not be ridiculous. Plus the only reason he played so much is cause Sturridge was out and the rest are shit.

Stepping club my arse. Plus what exactly is he going to accomplish at another club? Playing his 5 games to get a winners medal at Chelsea? Yeah that's top for his development.

It's not. I can say "Sterling shouldn't go to Liverpool because look at how Aspas and Ilori and Sahin and countless others weren't used at all when they were there." Never giving a young player a minutes rest in 2 seasons is fucking terrible management. Also, "The others are shit", surely that's a reason for him wanting to leave, he has no chance of achieving anything at Liverpool. He'd take a lower wage at a more competitive club, I guarantee it

You are a stepping club, every single Liverpool fan and pundit is in denial but it doesn't make it untrue. He'd be a guaranteed starter for City instead of Navas imo. So in terms of accomplishing things, how about challenging and winning the league constantly as well as actually being in Europe. Even if he was treated like other youth talents at City and Chelsea, he'd be loaned to a competitive club to help him develop. That's miles better than playing 120 mins against Middlesbrough in the fucking Capitol One Cup

I have absolutely no sympathy for [old club]"

“They have a choice as a club. They don’t have to sell. They had that choice. Maybe [old club] objectives have changed. They were on course to be a Champions League club, I believe, but, obviously, that has changed.

"That’s the nature of it. Players will want to compete at the highest level.

“[Young talented player who hasn't achieved anything] was probably disappointed and sad to leave [old club], but he’s gone to a what he would deem to be a bigger club.

“The guys have come here because of the status of [new club] and Champions League football. It’s hard to deny players that – and that will always be the case. I think chairmen and directors and executives understand that, so all they can do is maximise what they can get for the talent and look to invest again.”

By your own managers definition, you're a stepping stone club

Don't be so stupid. Had it not been for Rodgers actually playing him 'so much', i.e going to a club like City, he would have ended up like your Sinclair etc or still be rotting in reserves without a game to his name. I think the fact Rodgers gave him a break in the middle of the season is anything something Sterling should have some respect for, there isn't any senior players who would get that sort of treatment yet alone a 20 year old who's forms been shit.

I don't think anyone begrudges him if he does eventually leave, or even if he left this year without being a total cunt about it. But Flash hit the nail on the head, he's "just broke into the team within the last 2 years and he wants to jump ship already when he's only 20 and has done fuck all yet".

Sterling is miles better than Sinclair, absolutely anyone in the world could see that, comparing those 2 situations is fucking retarded. It's like saying, "Why would Sterling go to Liverpool, look at what happened toAspa, Ilori etc". Rodgers ran him into the ground like nothing I've ever seen before, absolutely terrible management and you can see it's affected him this season. He's smart to want to get away from him before he does any more damage.

Yes, cos Liverpool is a stepping stone club. He thinks he can accomplish more at another club so why wouldn't he want to leave?

Nobody is even saying we are good enough or that he'll become a world class player, and I could argue about that but I won't. It's more with how he's come out with it all, plus I don't think you can argue that right now, for the next year or two this club is the best for his development. Also seen some stuff like he doesn't owe Liverpool anything, well actually if anything, he's a prime example of a player who owes some loyalty to a club. The trust Rodgers showed in him has been immense.

Hahahaha. Sterling would be tremendously wise to get as far away from Rodgers as possible. This is the guy who overplayed him so much he needed a holiday in the middle of the season ffs. Sterling owes Liverpool nothing, they were simply the highest bidder when he was looking for a club, not like the fucking found him naked in a hole in the woods.

Liverpool fans just can't accept the fact that they're now simply a "stepping stone" club, as Rodgers so gladly called Southampton last summer

He'd easily replace Navas in City's XI too I'd bet. Or even push Silva central with Navas and Sterling on the wings

Oh, and if a team needs a point from the final game of the season to stay or go up, I assume the result will stand if their fans invade the pitch and refuse to leave, forcing an abandonment...

The Board also asked its executive to review the League's regulations regarding abandonments to ensure that any such matches can always be played to a conclusion or replayed altogether if deemed necessary.

They also took the circumstances (fixture had no real bearing on anything) into account

At its meeting in London today, the Board of Directors of The Football League considered matters relating to the abandoned Sky Bet Championship match between Blackpool and Huddersfield Town on May 2.

The Board took the view that the 0-0 scoreline that stood at the time of the game's abandonment (in the 48th minute) should be officially recorded as the final result of the match, as it believes that league points should always be earned on the field of play.

In addition, the Board agreed to charge Blackpool with failing to fulfil a fixture and the matter will be heard by a Football Disciplinary Commission in due course.

In making its judgment the FDC will be asked to consider any matters relating to compensation to Huddersfield Town and ticket refunds to supporters.

The Board also asked its executive to review the League's regulations regarding abandonments to ensure that any such matches can always be played to a conclusion or replayed altogether if deemed necessary.
