I wouldn't sell to PSG for anything less than 25m. They've got fucking loads of money.

If they can pay 30 million for Marquinhos then they can pay a similar amount for a (somewhat) established member of the French national team.

Pardew's newest comments really do not fill me with confidence. Not that they do anyway.

They must be desperate.

David Moyes comments on it just make him seem even less capable of managing a club the size of Utd too.

United boss David Moyes said he was surprised the club was able to sign a player of Mata's calibre during the January transfer window.
"I am thrilled," said Moyes, whose team are seventh in the Premier League, 14 points adrift of leaders Arsenal. "I got wind a month or two ago it could be possible, but I never thought we could pull it off.
"When we got the sniff there was a chance Juan could be available we went after it right away. There will be more players like Juan in the future. I've no doubts about that."

Thats from the BBC but im certain i read a bit more on Sky Sports earlier but can't bloody find it now. He just comes across as being almost starstruck that a player like Mata has signed for Man Utd. Does he not realise its quite normal?

I think as an Arsenal fan you're more used to selling your best players to rivals than most of us, it's really not that common.

We're reportedly unwilling to budge from £25M. But if Fellaini is £27M then Cabaye has to be on a par with that.

The problem with that logic is that Fellaini was never worth what we paid for him.

Also Fellaini went from Prem club to Prem club. I'm guessing PSG are expecting a £5m discount for taking him away from their 'rivals'

Newcastle and PSG agree a deal for Cabaye, he'll have a medical tomorrow.

Incredible how we can sell a player in 11 hours, yet it takes us 8 months to even loan one. I mean for fuck's sake what is the point of Joe Kinnear?

Grenier, Cabella and Luuk De Jong in and Cabaye out isn't the worst window in the world.

I don't have the confidence in us signing anybody, nevermind all 3. If we can pull off all 3 signings, we've had a better window than it looks now. I just fear it will remain as it now - same squad as we entered January with, sans Cabaye - which will see us coast to the end of the season locked in the top half and getting another derby defeat.

Aye if it ends up like that we'll drift off and finish about 10th.

We're a different team when Cabaye plays compared to when he doesn't. No-one has the class or quality of him in our midfield.

Not aimed at you, aimed at the 8 months to loan Remy/11 hours to sell Cabaye. - Newcastle have turned down bids for years for Cabaye. And when Remy rejected Newcastle, they signed Sissoko, Gouffran, Haidara and MYM instead.

Newcastle currently have a 12 point lead over 10th place. Very unlikely any team other Southampton will overtake Newcastle. Swansea/Villa would have to be excellent, and Newcastle awful. Tiote/Anita/Sissoko is still a much better midfield three than anyone in the bottom half. Also Newcastle were miles better than Southampton in the 1-1 draw, without Cabaye.

12 points is only 4 games.

There's absolutely no creativity in a midfield 3 of Tiote Anita and Sissoko.

Its football fandom. You tend to have moments of spouting unreasonably histrionic and wildly inaccurate bullshit at times. Though the 11 hour figure is on Twitter, and is probably down to what it felt like being at least. Chances are its been in the works for a little while, most likely when he was spotted flying to Paris on FA Cup 3rd Round weekend.

The inconsistency of our business annoys me. In the summer we said we wouldn't sign anyone unless we sold Cabaye for 10m, which we'd use to get a striker and a replacement for Cabaye. Now that it's 20-25m we're still no closer to a replacement for Cabaye (who, let's face it knew was going to leave so we should have had someone sorted) - and we're getting a midtable German clubs reject striker on loan.

If he just came out and said my aim is to keep Newcastle in midtable so I can extract as much money from them as possible without large investment until I sell the club it would make me happier than listening to Pardew and Kinnear's bullshit every transfer window.

The "we can't bid for a replacement until Cabaye is sold" nonsense is infuriating too, it's not that we can't - it's that we don't want to.
