I'd say staying in Madrid would have been easier for Ozil than coming to a new club in a new country with huge expectations on his shoulders. He could have stayed where he was amongst plenty of other world class players but he chose to come to Arsenal where he is expected to be the star man in every game.

Salah made a big stink about playing against an Israeli team in Europe. Made lots of political comments, refused to shake the other players hands etc.

Salah has refused to shake hands whilst playing Israeli teams. The first time he missed the handshakes due to changing his boots. The second time he offered fistbumps instead.
I didn't know Abramovich was Jewish either. Being anti-semitic and being anti-Israel are surely two different things.
