I need a suggestion where to start. I want to build a team from the bottom up like a few of other guys are doing on here. Something completely new so I'm putting it down to you! I have a few criteria where I want to start.
- A nation with good youth prospects
- Not a very poor nation
Also I'm using the default database (with Gibraltar). And a list of leagues to go along with it.
I'll be a former sunday league footballer who only speaks English.

I'm having a look the now, Belgium caught my eye as did Denmark. Never managed in either before so I don't really know what to expect. Dabbled in the Republic of Ireland before but never really made a proper go of it.
Dan
With the leagues I've loaded to look around, I have Denmark and Belgium too, they also caught my eye!

That may not be obscure enough though, Croatia is a good shout, along with Belgium or somewhere like Chile?
SR67
Croatia is a good shout, always get good regens coming though from there. As for Spain, I've managed there a few times and promotion is quite easy at the beginning. Tonight I'll load up a game with all the leagues suggested and have a proper look.

Also worth looking at Holland, Sweden and Norway.
I had an enjoyable game starting as Sunday League experience and unemployed when I got offered the chance with a second tier Swiss side, could be worth looking there too. Best bet is to choose a few of these countries and start unemployed then let FM choose your path i reckon.

Currently scouring through the leagues looking for the imperfect fit, suggestions welcome.

I take it you've tried it. How did you fare?

One should not jest at the plight of Barry Town United. A scandalous affair. Once the one team in Wales that might have progressed in terms of European football was ruined by Fashanau and ripped apart by Lovering.
A team that once beat the might of Porto at home with a young Ricardo Carvalho starting. Sadly it was not to be as Deco in Porto tore Barry apart.
There is one on SI by CymruAmBythXV and it's pretty damn excellent. I would highly recommend it.
Shedender
Hahaha no, I've been tempted though.
Sorry I wasn't "laughing" at the plight of Barry Town as it's a sad situation and I actually remember watching their 3-1 win over Porto at Jenner Park, I'd love to see them back at the top of the WPL but don't think it'll ever happen, or at least not for a long time.

First few seasons are going to be a struggle. My plan will be to build a solid base, get the finances up to scratch. Only then can I build a squad good enough for promotion.
The club is skint. I’m already £700 p/w over the £5.1k p/w wage budget and the projected balance for the end of the season is -£600k.
Dan
If someone can link me to this database I think I could have finally found a new story!
Good luck with this Sean

I had a look for it but couldn't find it.

Plan for the season. Struggle and try not to cry. Eventually reaching mid-table mediocracy. I'll get tore into this over the weekend at some point, hopefully have an update up after 3 months or something.

Assistant took over the friendlies while I tried to sort things out behind the scenes. As you could see from the last post we were pretty weak on the right hand side (and still are). I brought in a new right back, Zoran Arsenic, on loan with the parent club paying his wages. The only right winger I have has been injured so I've been forced to play a messed up 442 (although it seems to be working).
Great start to the season so far. Much better than expected, hopefully it sets the tone for the season and we finish in the top half. Don't want to go for promotion yet. Half my players are on loan and will be leaving at the end of the season so I need a few seasons to build a decent squad.

No right sided players fit, only one defender fit. This next match should be fun.

We only have about 180 fans at a match, we need more fans and a decent cup run for anything to work out. This is going to be tough!

Had a look at that Caleta-Car, he wants over £1.5k p/w so he's out of my league at the minute.
SR67
But all-in-all we are just 2 points off 3rd place, although I'd be more than happy with a top half finish.
