The problem is that we don't have enough semblance that this is what they want. It would be nice if we knew for sure, but the fact there's a "Everything might be for sale" sign always over the club doesn't help the semblance of team construction. I still think more questions could have been asked of Charnley then were, and that the answers he gave were extremely sanitised.
I don't think Alli is that opposable a signing - even if £9million is a bit excessive - but I still think there are positions that need strengthening first or as well. Maybe its all just hot air. I know we've been linked with him on and off for a while and I'm aware of reports Graham Carr has been spotted at MK Dons games, but I was under the impression Liverpool and Arsenal led the queue. Apparently not.
Meanwhile one of the Tyneside papers called him "Alli Dele". Good start.

What a joke.

It's so boring supporting Newcastle now, it's hard to get excited about anything as anything worth getting excited for will either be sold pretty quickly or cost too much to do in the first place.
Balance sheet champions but no sporting ambition at all
If he gets the job permanently in the summer it's clear were only bothered by the cheapest option.

Think it's an incredible risk, we wouldn't attract anyone half decent if we get relegated either.

You've just described 99% of football clubs right there.
Poe
It would definitely pay the compensation to Mainz or Ajax for Tuchel or De Boer.
We were in the 1% until around 2007/2008. It's just painfully predictable now.
Shola
And the 1% is a post-Abramovich thing anyway. Since that much money came into football, the talent has become conecentrated. Bony and Remy were arguably the two stand out strikers outside of big clubs. Now they'll both (probably) be used as third choice strikers. The idea of a Le Tissier style player in this age, seems ridiculous.
Ninja
Which is assuming that either would want to come, which I'm not sure is the case.
Shola
Potentially the Barcelona job could be available, so no way De Boer will commit before that. Have no idea if Tuchel is hoping the Dortmund or Bayern job is available.
But then again in the summer there probably wont be that many better jobs available.
Poe
It's not even winning games all the time. It's the fact our club has written off the past two seasons half way through 'to plan for the future'
That's over £1000 of investment for the average season ticket holder which is unacceptable really.
We should push on when were safe, not give up.
It was pretty well documented that we'd contacted Tuchel about the postion but he's still under contract until the end of the season and were refusing to pay the compensation which is maybe fair enough if we were definitely safe. But were not.
Flash.
Called it.

But not surprising.

Not sure these past two seasons, one of which hasn't happened yet, is any worse than the vast majority of previous seasons?

Maybe someone who has followed the club since the 1970s will write a book with that as a title.
Poe
Because we were trying to be successful in previous seasons, albeit failing. Even the season we finished 5th, we pushed on and signed a striker in January to help us in the last part of the season. Now we either sell somebody (Cabaye, Ba) or don't buy players where we're absolutely desperate for one. We're so short of centre backs it's unbelievable.
Now we're just floating about in lower midtable. And we won't finish any higher than 12th this season, it's obvious.
Shola
Newcastle have said their target is top ten, if they achieve it, it will be 3 top ten finished out of 4. Since the 60's Newcastle have only managed to have sort of success twice. Once where Keegan and Dalglish combined for four good seasons and once where Robson and Roeder combined for four good seasons out of five.
Fun fact, last season Newcastle won more games than in 3 of 5 of Bobby Robson's seasons.
Poe
Finishing 5th, 4th, 3rd and 2nd is completely different to finishing 10th, limping over the finish line after some of the worst run of form the club has seen.
I have no problem with first teamers being sold as long as they are replaced - I'm yet to see a replacement for Mbiwa who we've just sold, and replacing Sissoko with Dele Alli is a huge risk - if that occurs.

Absolutely desperate for a centre back so we sell one. Were desperate for a proper centre forward too.
Our transfer policy is a joke.
Wonder if santon will be replaced? Means our first team defenders for the rest of the season will be Janmaat coloccini Williamson dummet and haidara. Depressing.

Clear as mud as ever.

He knocked back Inter and we forced him out. Joke of a club at times, treat our players and fans like shit.

Mike Ashley has absolutely no motivation to invest to help the club progress beyond Premier League survival.
