I can see why he's done this tbf.
He was obviously unconvinced by his Champion's League success, and any idiot can see why. It was the most fortuitous win the competition has ever seen. he's then handed a team that he'd be hard pressed not to do well with, with the exception of the lack of a top class centre-forward and shows no sign of being able to do anything when things have gone tits up in the past month.
He did well for what he was initially needed for. But I don't think you really can attribute his success last season to any managerial nous, and if you discard that and treat him on the merits of this season he's been rank average.

I guess I'm naive.

But if Rafa goes to Chelsea, the betrayal of Liverpool is complete

I think that's what Roman wanted to do, but no one high profile wanted to commit.

Yes, that would be OUR secret agent Benitez.
There's some sense to appointing him to till the end of the year. He's the only manager that's ever consistently got Fernando Torres playing like the worlds best striker (even though he was good in his Atletico days he stepped up massively for Liverpool) so as we all know Abramovich is such a huge Torres fan AND has shelled out so much money on him I guess it does make sense to reunite the two as a desperate final attempt to get him playing well.
Additionally, I don't see anyone being scared off of the Chelsea job. If you're sacked the blame will be given to Abramvich, if you somehow succeed then immortality awaits. And either way you're going to get stinking rich.

You's will never get Pep, never.
What does Roman even think when he makes these decisions?

Unfortunately I think he'll do very well.

It feels extremely weird having Rafa as manager and seeing his photo on the website. Going to be even weirder seeing him on the touchline come match day.

Yeah, but imo it makes more sense that whoever wins the Super Cup plays in the Club World Cup thingy.
