Yeah, he knows how to get a crowd going thats for sure.

We desperately need a CB to play alongside Mbemba and a left back, then we should look at a striker and replacing Sissoko I think.

Top quality DM and GK in the summer maybe?

In Jan I'd say LB, CF and possibly an extra CB would be the three core areas to strengthen, if we can be arsed with the January market. But that's for 3 months from now.

Seeing as Man City will apparently be without Kompany, Toure, Silva, Nasri and more tomorrow, I reckon we do have a legitimate shot at getting more than our usual thumping. Might mean being more positive than the MUFC game and kicking Sissoko up the arse though.

The team should hopefully be completely different by January. As in McClaren has functioned them into some semblance of organisation or purpose. And if McClaren hasn't, a new manager will hopefully be able to do so.

If Mitrovic can begin to add a goal threat and Wijnaldum stop playing shite, then Newcastle should look a lot better. A DM and a winger with pace would definitely be my priorities.

I reckon buying a LB at this stage would be 'shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic'. What's the urge to buy one anyway? Haidara has had a better season than Janmaat.

Doubt it. Imagine him being flogged for like £6m to Spurs or something.

Yeah but Haidara isn't very good while Janmaat is.

A DM should be top priority if Tiote is going to continue playing like a wanker.

apparently Gouffran in DM is happening today.

I know Gouffran seems to be getting it in the neck for yesterday. But then that seems to be the case whenever he plays. Same, increasingly, for the more regular Sissoko and Coloccini.

Apparently Marseille are already getting buyer's remorse over Remy Cabella, who has been largely poor for them since joining, and are rumoured to be avoiding playing him so they don't have to buy him for £6million. Which means it doesn't seem like anyone has benefited from the deal that bought us Thauvin.

Talk of Sissoko - yet more bullshit attributed to him about wanting to play in the Champions League has been transmitted on Canal+.

He'd be lucky to make the reserve team of a CL side on current form.

So... Krul out for the season, and Darlow is injured for a while.

That leaves us with Elliott and 3/4 teenagers. Oh dear.

Amazing - How we're down to our 3rd choice 'keeper so often. It's seems nearly impossible.

In other news it seems Shane Ferguson is the player most likely to be representing Newcastle at the Euros. Amazing.

Its the second season in a row this has happened. Let's hope whomever is thrown in is more capable than Alnwick.

Equally of concern is the fact Janmaat, Taylor, Haidara, Dummet and Mbabu are all out, leaving us with 4 centre-backs to make a defence from - 2 in terminal spirals and 2 new to the BPL. Although I'm guessing its going to be Colback at LB and Gouffran in CM... which doesn't bode well.

I thought he'd come back to fitness during this break?

So that's the potential of an Mbemba-Williamson-Coloccini-Lascelles back 4 protecting Elliott... I get the feeling a League One team would find joy against that, nevermind a BPL one.

I do believe. That with him in our defence, we will be lucky to keep a clean sheet at any match.

Apparently the number is 13. I recall in 2006, we had 13 out and threw in the kids, who were often better than the overpaid lummocks they replaced. Maybe it might be worth trying to repeating history... if nothing else, the U18 have managed it themselves, given they also lost 6-1 to their Man City equivalents.

Surprised no one has thought of doing it before.

I wonder how many managers/club officials have ever made reference to a player being 'too old' as a reason for selling / not offering a new deal.

Withholding the new deal is not the primary reason. It doesn't specifically say what incidents are cited but it looks to me like the claim is to do with everything since the initial diagnosis in summer 2013. Not least given he slagged off the club's treatment of him both when he went public with his cancer, and when he returned to the first team earlier this year.

In any case, the trial will be in March, so presumably evidence will start emerging then.

Good to see the backlash on the 'communication'.

Don't know why clubs force managers to do post match emails - it's always gonna be used as a stick to beat them with.

“I am not really a ‘project’ manager. Football is what happens now. We have to win now. I don’t say, ‘my contract is for three seasons, my job is to have a good team after three seasons’. Come on.

“‘Project’ is a nice word. But in life you can’t look forwards. What happens today and tomorrow can be different. It is easy to say, ‘ask me at the end of my contract’. No. I am working now, we are playing now, and we have to win now.”
