Am I the only one who thinks the unrealistic quality of so many of the regens are killing FM13? It was bad last year but this year it's even worse. It infuriates me that SI continue to damage the realism of the game by creating endless regens who are 18 years old yet leading premiership players with most of their key attributes above 17.
Take my current save at swansea for example where I worked hard over around 7 seasons to build a team regularly finishing in the champions league places built around a crop of talented youngsters.. jack butland, jack robinson, lorenzo criestig, jordan rhodes to name a few. Now these players pale in comparison to this host of 18 year old regens who are are worldbeaters that cost 500K from santos or manchester united under 18s. You lose the incentive to develop your young players when you know you can get a 5 star centre forward if u spend 2 minutes going through Brazil's Under 20s and apart from anything it's so unrealistic!
Hoping this problem is addressed in time for FM14!

I agree, Manchester United don't create the best youngsters in the world, or Brazil u20s don't pick the best players available to them. If you was looking in say, the Championship and still seeing the same quality regens i'd understand... but using Man Utd and Brazil as the examples doesn't help your case.

It would be nice to have more top players emerging at smaller clubs on FM, Perhaps I'm just not scouting well enough but I don't think I've ever had anyone the quality of Joe Hart coming through the ranks at Shrewsbury or Smalling at Maidstone.
I realise these are rare cases but still.

Okay so you're trying to tell me that it's realistic that every season Manchester United have a top 17 year old striker with finishing, pace, composure, off the ball, technique all 15+? Ofcourse United Under 18s and Brazil Under 20s produce the best players in the world but they're not worldbeaters at the age of 17 are they, where's the development?

Brasil is correct imo, look at the likes of Ronaldo, Robinho, Carlos and Neymar as far as recently. Who have all exploded on the stage at a young age and also moved to a massive club very early on. I know Robinho was about 23+ before he moved but still he's been world class a lot like some of the regens in FM too.

Actually, I'd say that AI squad management is a much bigger issue. Most of the time, promising regens aren't developed properly by AI teams, and it's an accident even when they do. They either aren't loaned out and get next to no appearances in the first team, or they do develop but are retained as back-up players, despite the fact that they may be better than a 38 year old Wayne Rooney!

I really don't think it's a big deal if it really has been hard coded for certain high profile teams to have more world class regens than others. In long-term games, either those players won't be used against us, or we might get to pick them up on the cheap.

I have the same opinion makes this FM unrealistic, I will explain at Sporting in Portugal one of the largest training school in the world not all years appear pontencial players to join the main squad (ie reality).
In Brazil, where there is an endless streak of aces with 18 and 19 years later but not all are good actually Tales players formed the Internacional de Porto Alegre aged 18 was appointed as a big playmaker for the future last year and stayed in the Sporting not a league game did complete a real flop.
In FM we want something very close to reality so I think for the year it is a serious mistake to fix because it takes away any realism to the game.
