The one you cut from is 800x533 in size, and cropping the face sees it at around 200 pixels in height. You had to upsize it to fit 250x250, hence the slight loss of sharpness in the cut you uploaded.
The one I posted is 1600x900 in size, and will result in a better-quality cut due to its higher resolution.
I think the current cut is from back in May, Norwegian club official website are often updated at the start of the season, which is in the start of April/march. I would think this source is older than the current cut, although I could be wrong. I will look into it once I get home.

The source from which the current cut was produced was from the uefa.com photoshoot for the U17 Euros held in May this year.
Going by the image's URL, it was certainly taken at some point this year. Players at all teams in the final phase had their photos taken, while those in the elite round didn't. Since the elite round finished at the end of March 2018 and the final phase started at the start of May, the photo will have been taken during the month or so in between that period. Although I can't tell which date it was taken, it looks very similar to a photo taken on April 29 or 30 of this year, and I would guess it's from around that time.
The source I found was from an article on the club website published on 22 April but going by the fact that the whole team's photos have the same background, I very much doubt whether the photo was taken exactly on that day, and it was probably taken a little while ago. Also since he "looks" a little younger in this image when compared to the other one.
Going by all this, it looks like the existing cut is a more recent source and that the one @Cizzu cut, and which I found a better source of, cannot be considered as an improvement unfortunately...
To be perfectly fair, I don't expect cutters or researchers to go into such forensic details when locating sources
It's always good practice for requesters, however, to see whether the current megapack image was cut recently. If it was, I would always avoid making an improvement request unless either the cut was poor or the new source was exceptionally good.
